According to the Council on Foreign Relations' Global Conflict Tracker, the Western Hemisphere is, with the exception of the drug-war in Mexico, free of conflict. No person alive can remember our Hemisphere to be as peaceful as it is today.

Great website to follow. It’s sad how people underappreciate how damn lucky we are to be living now compared to any other time in human existence

Ummm.... Last time I checked there was a ton of protest and violence in South America, especially Venezuela.

My old relatives constantly say the world is full of evil these days and the US is a scary place with crime totally out of control. LOL

South America is a disaster these days
Civil uprisings all over with uncontrollable crime rates

I know there is no war there but it seems like Venezuela should be included in the "conflict" category.

I don't know what is what because shite is always changing, but I thought there was a civil war going on in one of the South American countries?

The other day I was watching something.. Maybe VICE on HBO, but there was a story about all the politicians in Mexico that have been killed in the current political year. So far, 113 politicians have been murdered. All were running on an anti-cartel platform.
Here is a link to the latest killing.
LINK
If I were in Mexico, I'd run for office on a pro-cartel platform and just wait for everyone to get killed.. Win.

Don’t buy this crap either. There is a daily war ongoing in Ecuador, Colombia and El Salvador in addition to Messico.
What is the angle “Human Progress” is shooting for?

Don't leave out Honduras and Nicaragua. Hell, some liberal nutjob told me a few days ago that Trump said Canada was our enemy. I asked him when we invaded. Nonetheless, this nonsense posted by the OP is BS.

Are you fricking stupid?
Serious question.

Didn’t realize 70805 wasn’t considered part of the Western Hemisphere.

Not sure what this has to do with anything. No matter what, the US and Canada will never be at war with one another & going to the border of US & Canada will never be a violent territory.
But in South America, most of the countries there, Brazil, Bolivia, El Salvador, etc.. The government doesn't protect it's people and as a result there is a lot of crime.. Crime organizations are able to thrive and then they end up controlling the way of life. I never understood that. Does the governments not have enough resources or is there not enough resources in these countries, for the government to tax and be able to run efficient which allows the crime organizations to be more powerful than the government?
Either way, I don't hear about many people trying to sneak into South American countries. I am sure the only good jobs there are working for the crime organizations, everyone else is poor and uneducated. And all of that is nothing but a formula for conflict.

Just yesterday someone posted here that they saw an LSU fan and an Ole Miss fan fighting over which D-list sporting event they were going to watch at the bar.

The filmed assasination of the mayor of Piedras Negras bothers me a lot.
I know people who live there, who work there and who are decent.
That ...just walk up to the mayor and shoot him in the back of the head ....with no attempt to cover the face of the assailant....indicates how bad things have become.
And most US citizens may not know where Piedras Negras is: yes, it is a state in Mexico, but it is right across the river from Eagle Pass Texas, and assassinations that close ought to scare the s*** out of us, and at the very least get a lot more attention than it got.
