There was a time when I watched TWC all the time. They've turned into the propaganda channel, however.

Every infectious disease modeler I have read has said this variant won't cause another Delta or Omnicron like surge. It's still COVID. Probably be similar to last winter. And be the same every winter moving forward. It's clickbait typical sensationalism from today's major media.

I work in an ICU.

We’ve had a handful of Covid patients lately, people with every risk factor under the sun, and knock on wood every one has transferred out and gone home.

None of them really needed treatment, they were put in ICU for observation. We still had a couple of gung ho residents order Remdesivir, we tried telling them they were wasting their time. Had a couple of patients refuse it.

Surprisingly, the sickest patients we’ve had lately have had RSV or obscure variants of flu.

Honestly, I see no problem with that video. Based on the number of folks in my department at work that are currently out with Covid, there most certainly has been an uptick in recent weeks. The video also says the danger to the populace posed by it ‘is very low”.

I like wearing a mask on plane.
People are gross, and cabin air is of poor quality usually.

I feel like they're just admitting that covid is the seasonal cold/flu at this point.

Everyone gets sick this time of year...

It wasn't worth shutting down the world over but the earlier variants did kill a lot of people. Anybody digging in on one side or other of the issue is wrong and probably has an agenda.

Admittedly, I do have agenda. My agenda is not crashing the global economy and not shutting down the US education system.

A new guy at my company is at a tradeshow with us this week. I genuinely like the dude and believe he has a lot to offer. Having said that he’s the only one out of 10k here wearing a mask and it’s very embarrassing.

I had this variant a couple months back and it’s mostly sinus stuff. I went to my ENT for an unrelated ear issue last week and my doctor said that this variant was mostly, in his words, “from the neck up”. Said he’s seeing mostly stuffy noses, ear aches and head aches. Not much on the respiratory side.

However, he said the Flu is whipping some arse.

He’s right. I had the flu this month and it was twice as bad as any Covid strain I’ve gotten thus far.

Sounds about right this far into it. Everyone has been exposed or vaccinated and has antibodies for it, and by nature it would have to not be deadly in order to spread far and wide. This is an excerpt from an interview talking about it...and this person is, believe it or not, from NPR. But the convo happened in 2018, before people went mental.

quote:

DOUCLEFF: Yeah, so first off, I don't want to minimize the power of these diseases. These are incredibly destructive outbreaks, even when they're small or just restricted to a small area. For instance, the Ebola outbreak in West Africa killed more than 11,000 people. But for viruses to turn into pandemics that wipe out millions of people, they need two things - a high mortality rate, and they need to spread very easily. And it turns out, for viruses, this is really hard. For instance, Ebola - it's very deadly but doesn't actually spread very quickly or well. Same goes for Nipah, the virus that just cropped up in southern India. It kills up to 70 percent of people infected, but it also doesn't spread very well.

MARTIN: What about the viruses that do spread really easily, like Zika, right? That was the thing with Zika. It spread explosively, especially around South America and Central America.

DOUCLEFF: Yeah, absolutely. It's super contagious. But for the vast majority of people, Zika is a mild illness. Many people don't even know they have it at all. And so often, this is the case. A virus is either super contagious or really deadly, and the combination is super rare.

MARTIN: Right.

DOUCLEFF: And this is actually why Zika has basically disappeared. So many people were infected and survived back in 2016 that a huge chunk of the population now is immune, and the case numbers have just plummeted.

Time to put your masks on people and make sure you’re updated on your booster

Because the WC is liberal af and pushes covid panic narrative as well as climate change. Do yourself a favor and delete their ap and stop watching TWC and watch accuweather or Fox weather...

Same reason they "name" winter storm systems.
Same reason they call mid-category hurricanes "storm of the century" and "storm of a lifetime".

The Weather Channel became a joke when they started naming snow storms.
