Putting aside the death toll, there's been a different metric emerging which seem to expose the absolute shite job Broome is doing and that's the lack of road repairs. This isn't the normal failure of not re-paving nor filling potholes on neighborhood streets used only by people who live in that neighborhood, it's the complete failure to address various specific issues in high-traffic areas.

The onramp from Florida eastbound to Airline northbound. This has been closed since at least the summer and remains so to this day. There has been zero work done on this in months (at least none that I've seen in the near-daily trips I make through there).

The next one is the traffic light at the intersection of Main and North 9th (southbound, at the I-110 entrance ramp). This too has been out for months. Instead of being fixed they've made it a four-way stop.

Also, we have the traffic light also being out at the intersection of North Street and North 4th (behind St. Joseph's Cathedral). This one has been out for at least a month and has also been made into an all-direction stop.

Has anyone else noticed this? Anyone with any inside information on what's going on?

No it hasn’t. It has been 2-3 weeks. I use this on-ramp daily

Personally, I like it more as a 4 way stop anyway. Let them take as long as they want

Yes, it has. It's been down since at least early September. I use it almost daily as well.

Too many failures to adequately address them all in any thread

Feel like this one has been closed longer than since the summer. Why is it closed anyway?

Google maps simply says it will be closed until 2024. Maybe they are looking for Jimmy Hoffa?

It has absolutely been out longer than that. That is my normal commute home.

Throw bridge repairs in there. It takes far too long to repair these local bridges.

don't know if it's the city's responsibility to remove litter from the interstate, but there is a long stretch of garbage (far more than usual) strewn down the side of I10 East between the lakes and Perkins Road. It's a shite load of cups among other refuse. It's an absolute eyesore and disgrace. Also, an embarrassment to have that sight making an impression on travelers passing thru

These are both STATE, not CITY road projects.

Looks like a bunch of ICEE cups, which means that a box flew off a truck, so finding the responsible party should not be that hard. And yes, it looks horrible and no one is doing a damn thing about it.

No. It literally has not. It has been out since the beginning of October.

that is because the fines/tickets for littering do not go to clean up littering. Also, if you are caught littering you should have to be on a clean up crew for a few weekends plus a fine. And that fine should go to cleaning up our state.

City truck hit the girder. Too tall and apparently never got a height permit or rout verification.

The stretch of road that always made me embarrassed for Broome's Bittin Rudge is between Pasttime and Aster St on Nicholson. The amount of fans from other schools that have to travel that corridor and how incredibly bad the road converges to pop your tires is shockingly bad. Never understood how this 1-mile stretch could never get a major upgrade just simply for optics if anything else.

Sounds like DOTD’s responsibility from the article I remember about it.

Instead of complaining about it on TD. Have you tried reporting it on the RedStick311 app?

I think the ones on Main and North got messed up when the started putting in the new street meters. If I had to guess they might be waiting to finish the meter installation before fixing the lights.

eta: Honestly the worst part about North and 4th light being out is that is screws up the timing of the lights past it.

Also, frick that North and River Road light, I wish they would go back to a stop sign. You can cruise down North with all the lights timed up (just have to speed a little past the stop sign), only to wait 3-5 minutes for that light to change. Then not get to turn because River Road is backed up into the intersection.

Ok I have a little knowledge of the first two.

I was told that a city parish truck towing an excavator on a trailer hit the Airline overpass because the boom was too high. State dotd had to inspect for damage and hire a contractor to fix it. State says that the city is responsible for the damage. Guess what the city says.?

A contractor boring for the traffic light synchronization projects snagged scrap steel that was buried under N. 9th St. and Main.
The ensuring steel snag ripped the power cable out for the traffic signals. Those traffic lights belong to city.

But you are right. The city is quickly falling apart. I am told there isn't much maintenance going on. Qualified people are being hired by private contractors at much higher pay. The city seems more concerned about projects dealing with food deserts and helping out DBE contractors.
There is some work happening, Tom Dr. is being repaved, but is minimal compared to what needs to be done.
This is sad because this is a state capital.
