The government is run by boomers. They have always made policy that benefits them throughout the 80’s, 90’s, and today.
We are destroying the future for the sake of keeping their gravy train going
Show some numbers.
I just checked Grok and AI said payroll tax revenue was $1.61 trillion and SS expenses were $157 trillion.
It's going to be a difficult spell here as the baby boomers retire because there are not enough Xers to cover for the Boomers. But when the Xers retire the equation will shift and the Ponzi scheme will right itself because there are a lot more millennials than Xers.

Boomer here and I succeeded using 2 phrases, wants vs needs and pay yourself first. I want LSU season tickets but I need a new roof. Hello TV, roof wins. Before paying any bills, put 10% of your check into a 401K and another 10% into bank savings. Live on the rest.

One thing y'all are missing. It does not matter. We have the federal reserve that can just print money if we get in a bind. Who cares.

Quite frankly between the ages of 0-5, I don’t want the government anywhere near my kids, so as much as I love shitting on Boomers, I’m just going to assume this is through social security.
there is enough evidence that pre-school leads to better students

Not all old people are boomers, moron. Your blind hate is making you stupid.

The boomers paid taxes while working and are getting some of their money back.
Children are supposed to be supported by their parents, not the government.

That’s why they are called Boomers. The “baby boom” after the soldiers came home from WW2 was the largest generation in history. When they were children, more resources than ever went to children. When they were young adults we had the “cultural revolution.” Now that they’re old, well…
One thing i do think, though, is that the COVID response was so extreme because govt is mostly Boomers all over the world and the disease affected older people most of all.

As if this is a dilemma.
If u make it to 77yo, best to your kidneys.
If u do not, best to your soul.

What should the proper ratio be here?
What was it 30 years ago between old folks and kids beore we were talking about "Boomers"?

Pay for your own children. Boomers, and you eventually, have already paid into the system for decades.

My wife does this. Suggest something like spending 5x on seniors compared to children is crazy, she comes back with something extreme like "well I guess we should just kill them all huh?" Like I tell her, obviously there is an ocean between those two extremes.
The money is spent out of necessity. Nearly all of it is in health expenditures related to their age. Every society takes care of their seniors and extends their lives, no matter how awful. It’s what people do. Young people are largely healthy and require almost no medical care outside of routine checks to ensure good health.
Boomers also get retirement benefits from the government, because the government confiscated their money over 40-50-60 years to pay for the old people of that time, just as they will do to todays young.
When the millenials, another huge generation, arrives at this juncture, the same type of dynamic will persist.
The only way to find balance here is to tax people even more to fund shite like daycare for everyone. I’m sure you’d love that.

frick the old people and children in the U.S. Ukraine and Israel need our money. They have wars to fight and pensions to fund.

This is why I don't pay attention anymore to the 'national debt.' Because if the government wanted it paid off it could just print the money to pay it. Instead it uses that mirage to keep us paying taxes. Debt is a form of slavery. Government has no intention of paying it off, even if it could.
And don't reply with the devalue of the dollar argument. It's worth nothing already, and we've proven that any country not willing to use it as the world currency will get the full wrath of our military.
Clown world.

I’m not very bright, but explain to me how the government can just print money to pay off their debt? I always assumed that the more they printed, the printed sum would become debt itself.

I piss the poli board off when I take monetary policy to its logical conclusion and use Lincoln's Greenbacks as an example.
