Don’t speed and you won’t get a ticket. Pretty simple

Yeah I have so many more questions after reading that article.

As I understand it, the dude has an unmarked unit that he parks off the road somewhere. He then often hides behind the red light operating box(?), as seen in that picture, while shooting the LiDAR camera. Tickets get mailed.

As far as my untrained legal mind can understand reading the laws (Revised Statutes 32: 46-48), there are a number of ways for these tickets to be challenged, particularly the hiding behind the box while out of a car.

LiDAR can shoot far. So, besides “writing” citations during breaks in school, you can bet he’s hitting people outside the school zone as well.

I’m glad they’re telling that dude to frick off.

We had one of these departments in the Bham area. A big scandal locally. Brookside Police.

It sucks but this a gold star example of why so many reasonable law abiding people have a low tolerance for law enforcement these days..

Untold numbers of dumb criminal shite going on and this a-hole decides to frick the working man. Literally plant workers, truck drivers, teachers, etc. frick people like Ron Tetzel. A rural Parish's ward constable writing tickets like this is hilariously sad.

First thing that came to mind reading this article. Pretty sure Tony is not ok with this type of law enforcement.

Not much goes on in that parish without his blessing. This seems way too underhanded for him to condone.

I was working up a post about this. It’s a pretty terrible article. They bury a line about camera tickets… but then why would a guy be tracking cars. Kiran will never hit the big time again allowing people to peddle 7th grade quality writing assignment crap on her site.

I honestly thought the OP had just randomly selected paragraphs to quote then read the actual article and nope. Just horrible writing.

Im still not sure of:

How are the tickets issued? A person taking a photo or red light camera. How would a person taking a photo know speed?

Who, exactly, is the issuing entity?

Why, exactly, are the tickets illegal?

WTH is going on?

Y’all did read the part where it’s not the police department issuing these tickets, right?

I don't even speed at all and I 100% agree with this on my commute.
Speed Traps on I-10 between Nola and BR at 5am and 5pm are only there to collect money. And the fact it's often a blacked out unit from Troop A or B, They know damned well they aren't protecting or serving jack shite.

Traffic cam tickets are even more bullshite and illegal.

I’ve always thought it’s pretty bullshite to have school zone signs that aren’t electronic. In Texas they have multiple periods during the day and the times on the signs are so small it’s impossible to read while driving. The signs should all have flashing lights to indicate when the school zone is active. They don’t want that though because they would write less tickets… even though it would make the school zone safer.

100% with you on this. It’s chickenshit that the sign telling you what time the school zone is active is at the point where the school zone starts, with tiny arse letters you can’t read in time to actually slow down.

It’s also chickenshit because not every driver knows when school is in session. Why are we slowing traffic down when nobody is at the school?

They should all have lights.
