Norm gives a touching tribute to our heroic teachers, and towards one specifically in the front row: YouTube

Glorified babysitters, just pay them $10 an hour to watch the kids and play YouTube videos for learning

There’s a difference in a hard job and a shitty job. Hard jobs deserves the things shitty jobs never stop bitching about thinking they deserve. Teachers think they are one, but really they are the other. And no, your wife is not the exception.

Most teachers have a over inflated feeling
Of self worth. Some actually care and do a good job. But most need their pay cut

You cut teacher pay, then the quality of the person teaching your kids gets worse and the same people continue to complain about teachers.

And I agree that some do have over-inflated egos and teachers shouldn’t complain about salary. But decreasing pay would drive the good ones out

You can make more as a manager at McDonald's.

A 30 year experienced public school teacher with a doctorate would make around $80,000 a year in my area. It is why the good ones end up going into administration.

I’m a teacher. Trust me, I know.

But every singe one of those teachers knew how much they’d make before deciding to become a teacher. The younger teachers know how little masters and doctorate degrees help increase pay before they decide to go that route.

So I don’t have sympathy for those who complain about it. If you aren’t coaching a sport or involved in extra-curriculars, there’s an opportunity to have a side job if money is the issue.

Teachers really do take care of your kids quite a bit. Kudos to them. I’m very appreciative of (most of) them. That said, it’s a job. I’m not going to worship them or call them heroes.
