They need to get some of those big arse jet pumps Like the Egyptions used to wash gaps in the Bar Lev Line ( Israeli Berms) before crossing the canal during the 1973 War.
It’s all sand, seems like those tugs could wheel wash it.

"Might Take Weeks" - Suez Canal Still Closed As "Enormous Beached Whale" Ship Remains Stuck

Lol I’m guessing the USN doesn’t frick around with all that.
In all my passes through the Ditch on carriers, I never heard it referred to as the Marlboro Canal.
I’ve been through on regular merchant ships and USNS ships. There is a big difference in how each is treated on regular ships you have to kiss up to the port authorities because they have the power to delay you which will cost a lot of money. On the navy ships we entered last so we didn’t have to anchor in the bitter lake, and were the first ones out of the ditch.
On one of my USNS ships shortly after the Iraq war started a pilot refused to assist saying f-George Bush etc. our Captain said f-you we will do it ourselves. I didn’t have a lot of faith in the Captain’s seamanship and luckily the Chief Mate talked to the pilot and they worked it out.
Good friend of mine was "boats" on CV-60 they ran ditch several times before and of course after their gulf war deployment. Talked to him last night, he said the ditch drivers they got were always respectful and polite..... but - as the skipper told hadji.... "we are putting our arse kicking boots on"... the mood then was pretty tense.

Why can't they straighten it with tugs?

It grounded. Might have to dig it out and/or unload some it. Read somewhere last night that can hold 20,000 shipping containers. That's a lot of weight.

That's alot of fricking rust for a 3 year old boat. Here's my shocked face that the engine failed.

Where do you see rust?

It has a huge amount of mass and it was moving when it burrowed its bow deeply into the sand.
Sand behaves interestingly in this type of grounding event: it displaces fairly easily so not to damage the ship hull, but it then fills every available space around the hull and traps it like it is vacuum-packed.
The salvors working on freeing the ship are going to try several tactics in concert-
Digging the bow out from shore, lighting the ship (pumping off fuel & ballast water), pulling on it (obviously), and possibly removing some of the containers located forward.
The crew of 25 Indians done fricked up good.

Yeah, it's like pulling your foot out of your rubber boot in the mud hole....only on a much more massive scale.

Parker and Tony Beets would have that out in no time.

Damn! I have to assume there are a lot of oil tankers caught up in this mess.

That's not rust at the water line, that's mud.

and the vessels that were behind the Ever Given are being escorted out the way they came in and the are going to send the Ever Given back out the way it came in once they get it un-grounded.

I just heard on the news it could be weeks before its freed up. Suez Canal carries 10% of the worlds cargo.

Interesting. Why wouldn't they continue the escort through? Port closer the other direction or potential damage?

It’s much closer to the Red Sea entry.

If it takes weeks to clear the Canal, can the ships go old school and go around the Cape of Good Hope?
