I enjoyed the show, but as a friend once said, it's a show for "Cosmo-nauts" meaning shallow chicks who read Cosmopolitan Magazine.
Looking back, I definitely got the feeling that the women on the show were domesticating the men, for lack of a better word. But, when being a soy boy is portrayed as hot and desirable, a lot of dudes will fall in line.

It’s a hilarious show given the time it was popular. It’s a classic for sure.
That said, Ross was soy. Chandler was, but you could tell he didn’t want to be. Joey has game.
If it were remade, Ross would be trans and confused or some shite. Chandler would be a gay black man with masculine features so people think he’s manly. Joey would be hispanic.

Seinfeld is way better than Friends

It was a comedy for women. Good natured and harmless city guys with big apartments and apparently plenty money. The comedy was full of innuendos but never seedy. Generally lighthearted with some drippy saccharine moments.
Straight dudes watched it Bc women loved it and it was entertaining enough.
And it was popular enough that in addition to influencing women’s hair styles it probably did telegraph to a whole bunch of men, men who didn’t live in the big city and wouldn’t otherwise relate to the Friends, that hey it’s ok to sip soy lattes and be overly gentle.

Pretty obvious they were soyboys when they brought in guest appearances by Tom Selleck and Bruce Willis to illustrate the archetype of real men to contrast with the regulars.

I agree on Seinfeld, I still watch it. Wouldn't sit through friends now.
But people like diff things and the people that still binge watch friends and freaked out it was being taken off netflix or whatever, don't get Seinfeld. Their mind is too simple.

Most people back in the day who watched Friends also watched Seinfeld. College kids today even still watch both, at least many I know that do.
