I went through there back in October and saw that they tore down the middle school (which was the old old high school).

I used to love going to this old tuberculosis hospital not far from where I lived growing up. When we would go in high school, it was pretty creepy and fascinating as all the hospital beds and whatnot were still inside. It was pretty torn up and graffitied by then, but still cool to see. I always heard rumors it was being demolished, but I believe it’s still standing(though much of it has collapsed at this point).

I think they tore it down and the land was deeded to Central/BREC for recreation. (don't quote me on it)

A helicopter landed in the pasture behind my house back in 1982 or so and a guy with a gun came running out of it into the woods. About 5 minutes later a state trooper drove up to our driveway and told my dad that they were looking for someone that escaped the hospital.

About 2 hours later the copter and the trooper left. I never saw the officer that ran into the woods again and I have no idea if they found the escapee.

About 20 years later my grandmother did volunteer work there helping battered women so I'm not sure that it was a mental hospital at that point.
