Right? Unfortunately, they didn’t read it well enough. The article is still ridiculous.

They will have to attend St. Joseph's Academy, an all-girls private school in the St. George area.
1. Lol wut?
2. Last time I checked, you can’t just drive up to SJA, fill out enrollment papers and write a check out. Does this chick understand admissions??? Lol

Anybody that lives in EBR parish can apply to any of the magnet schools.
No, you have to live in BR.
Central, Baker, Zachary folks can’t.

I specifically looked for this earlier and under admission requirements it said must be a resident of EBR parish.

This is just nonsensical:
"[St. George doesn't] have a school system that is adequately set up to receive the income of students in that area," Evans said. "So, regardless of how much money or time or energy would get poured into that system, it would not have been to the same standard as the system I was currently enrolled in."

Especially considering her high school-aged siblings will very likely be graduated by the time St. George is an independent school district. This chick is writing like a school district is formed the minute the vote passes.

It was heavily edited all mention of St. Joseph Academy has been removed, with this added at the bottom:
*A previous version of this column incorrectly stated the Evans children would be forced to attend St. Joseph Academy if the St. George vote succeeded. This error has since been corrected. The Evans children would have the option to attend any public school. Additionally, St. Joseph Academy is not within the proposed St. George area.
They clearly read this thread
Nice job Reveille hacks

That’s what I thought as well, which is one of the reasons all this is somewhat confusing to me. That article implies that if you have a kid enrolled in an EBR magnet school and St George passes, your kid is then pulled from the magnet and forced to go to one of the St George schools.
It was my understanding that the vote establishes the city and the ISD comes in a separate vote. Can you be forced to send your kid to a school district that doesn’t exist?

If nothing else, I hope they choked down a ration of shite having to read us making fun of them being incompetent.

Not necessarily...the changes were made after the errors were pointed out in the comment section of the actual "article"...

Not sure what that has to do with the topic at hand

I have been undecided but all of the accusations of racism are making me lean toward voting for St. George.

It certainly could have been edited, screen grabs are often useful.

It was never about race. It was about a bunch of citizens paying taxes to receive services. When they continually did not receive the services, they asked about it and were told to STFU.
When the need for a new school came up, they asked and were told to STFU. When they asked where all of their taxes were going they were called racists, and that, ladies and gentleman, is how race got brought into it.

Where did you find this at?
I’m 110% sure that Baker, Central & Zachary kids are ineligible.
