From the Magnet website:

quote:

I live in a nearby school district. Will my child be able to enroll in a magnet school in the East Baton Rouge School System? No. School districts are independent entities governed by local school board policies. Therefore, only students who reside in the East Baton Rouge Parish School District can apply and enroll in our magnet schools.

So I assume they can't boot the St. G kids when it gets voted yes since St. G will still be in EBR School District.

If St George is passed this time around, the kids and school district will not be affected. That is a completely different vote. This is to incorporate like other surrounding areas have like Central so that eventually the ISD can be created. There's a chance the ISD isn't even created and St George gets some of its own controlled public services, which is a win for now. Plus it will take years to form. Unless Baton Rouge fixes the public school issue, it'll never draw young families in and they'll continue to move to the better school districts outside the city and spend their money further away. This is where St George should be helping push for reform in the parish.

I understand this but the person who wrote that ridiculous article does not.

For the record, it would not be an Independent School District, as it would be tied to a city. They tried to get an ISD approved, but the people at the capital said you can't have that, you have to be a city first to have a school district. Nitpicking, I know.

Jeff, judging how misplaced and strange this post is, I would suggest you get right with whatever God that your faith suggests.

I presume you’re referring to Clarke Perkins, which, if so is true.

Where did you find this at?

I went to the EBR parish school board site. I went to the BRMHS site. I read a lot of their pages, looking for it. Most just said that you have to show proof of residency, without giving a single detail.

I finally found one that said that you must live within the parish to apply. (Not Da Parish)

Central, Zachary and Baker has their own ISD’s. Once they broke off from EBRSS with their ISDs, the kids became ineligible for the magnet schools.

Kids that live in Pride can apply, since those schools are apart of the EBRSS.
