A government municipality can read Twitter comments complaining about a statue of an old white guy, vote on the removal of the statue, bid the removal work, and have the statue torn down in the span of 48 hours, but I can’t hardly get anyone on the phone for weeks to fix the crater sized pothole on our street that has been fricking up cars for months. How is this possible?

I agree. Interesting how statues can go down like clockwork but a pothole that is causing many people to have bent rims and tire blowouts receives no priority,

Ain't no money in fixing potholes, so no council member's family is in the pothole fixing business. If potholes were money somebody's cousin on a council would have that contract sewn up in hours.

You mean government is inept and doesn't have the interest of the general public in mind?

Spray paint a giant penis going into the pothole and watch how quickly it gets fixed.

Apparently the statue crew sits around waiting to leap into action at a moments notice; while the pothole crew is so busy lining up the day’s work they don’t have time to leave the shop.

If I didn’t know any better I’d think they were in cahoots with vehicle repair shops specializing in shocks, suspension, and tires/rims

But since I do, I’ll just chalk it up to government doing what it does best, and that’s act irresponsible with the taxpayer’s money, giving so little in return for our investment.

It’s why for people like myself, LESS is always BEST when it comes to the size and scope of government in our lives. The one thing they should be focused on in their responsibilities, our infrastructure, they fail at MISERABLY at all times.

When you drive around old BR during the day, you should pay attention to not just the condition of the roads, which are obviously deplorable, but simply the upkeep of the city in filth and grime everywhere, fences falling down and nature taking it back, horrible drainage and for a city on the coast that rains all the time, atrocious traffic with no answer in sight, missing guard rails on interstates that haven’t been replaced in 50 years, the only thing holding the one’s still in place is the grime that hasn’t been cleaned once in my lifetime. All of this failure equals the same thing every time.... Government by nature is the most incompetent of all entities, and the least of it we have in our lives, the better we all are as a result. I wish we could somehow privatize every bit of it and contract it out to a company that we could hold responsible instead of re-electing the same problem people every year to do nothing and expect to be rewarded for their inaction, and we do, over and over again.

. In NO they can’t remove bodies from a building or tear down said building either.

Or run a street sweeper, pick up roadsides, etc.

I'm not sure BR even has a maintenance crew anymore, honestly.

Anything like that has a skeleton crew which is why there is a long waiting list & you have to call the news to get anything done

There is so much waste in government it infuriates me
Way too many employees that do nothing all day drawing a paycheck & benefits

Maybe if the potholes were deemed to be racist they would get fixed.

Spray paint "This is MAGA country" on all the potholes. You may be onto something here.

There’s a funny episode of the league where Ruxin can’t get a pothole fixed so he spray paints a swastika in the pothole to get it fixed but the image of him spray painting it is captured on google earth

yep, you're right. filling in a pot hole takes a lot less effort than removing a statue.
