Your wife doesn’t wear any rings?

It's called specific jewelry insurance. You're a moron if you don't have it for an engagement ring.

Safety for the bride / bride-to-be is why I made the post. If thugs steal tricycles from children with Down’s Syndrome, do you Romeo’s with deep pockets ever worry that your lady will be targeted for her rich ATM of a finger?
I have an insurance policy on her ring as do most people with any sense. I didn’t spend $30k for it either

I paid around $7k for my wife's nearly perfect 4 carat lab ring. A "real" diamond that size would've been double the price and would've had flaws.
A 4 carat diamond would have been a lot more that double than what you paid

I don’t even remember what my wife’s was. 11-13k in 2010 and I had to send a Jewish friend of my MIL into the diamond district for the stone, then had some Russian Jew slave hand make the setting, a Tiffany replica, in a closet in some office building behind the diamond district.
It annoyed me, but I would never pay retail for that shite, and I’ve spent money on dumber shite.
I got some earrings for her for the anniversary few years ago. Didn’t have time to frick with it, so I found a shady frick in the LA diamond district who did a set to match the engagement ring and they turned out great and she loved them. Think they were $5k.

It’s now clear that readers of this post read “safety” and is interpreted to mean “of your money.” It was meant for your wife’s personal safety, not your money.
If ring is very expensive or portrays very expensive, seems there is risk of theft / harm to her. I am sensing not really.
Although I read headlines everyday that sillier things are stolen / harmed.
Some conflict in your post has me curious. If you spent presumably far less, why the need for insurance?

If your fiancé is only happy with that expensive of a ring, you should not marry her. I just spent $5k for a very nice ring.

You worried about your wife’s personal safety wearing something in public that requires insurance?

Because a rider on my insurance policy isn’t that expensive. I have several items like that insured on my policy.

No that is not a fear that crosses my mind.

That moronic part skipped right over.
To be told it is moronic to not have insurance for $30k ring.
The moron continuum is narrow for some.

Indeed. A waste from my perspective. The wife and I got married at a little chapel in Jacksonville, FL .. $500 for both rings combined .. just us and 2 witnesses.
We were married for nearly 34 years until she passed away on 9/3/2025.
Some things simply don't need a huge ceremony or material things to thrive.

I know women that wear $300k plus of jewelry everyday. Doesn’t seem to bother them

Is it really a diamond if it didn't come from a warlord?

Why??? I don’t think it makes sense to pay for insurance in that case, but that’s just me

They actually have less impurities than a real diamond. but some women can’t get past the whole synthetically grown vs naturally grown in the wild thing.
So in that case show her the movie Blood Diamond, and tell her that’s where all her diamonds come from.
That’s your last resort to swing her back.

Wouldn't work for my wife, she crafted a whole story about Katlego (meaning success), the one armed 9 yo boy who scratched her raw stone out of the Earth's maw in the Kimberly big hole. The compressed carbon is a testament to human toil and perseverance. Everyone is happy, my wife got the stone she wanted and Katlego got an extra portion of pap, samp, and biltong to take home to his family that day.
Her diamond was bought well before the commercialization of aesthetic lab-grown diamonds, and we have never had the conversation. While I know it is the De Beers mythology, I can certainly see the difference between a crystal formed over a billion years ago as a result of rare conditions deep in the Earth compared to a lab grown diamond from China or India forged on a random Tuesday.
