The credit card machine at fricking Subway asks for tips now.

I feel bad not tipping but if people start they are just going to lower their employees' base pay until they rely on tips to even make a paycheck.

Easy way to get around that is use the Subway app. I go every now and then and started using the app because every so often I earn a free $2. When I flash that I am paying with my phone you literally just scan the code and tipping never even becomes an option.

You guilt tippers are the reason that everyone asks for a tip now.
You are the equivalent of those handing money to beggars out the car window.

For eating, I tip if you wait on me.
Don’t wait on me? No tip.

Agreed. You go to a place where you serve yourself, then they give you a tablet open to a tip page when you check out!

Thought everyone else on the OT was a baller? Why can't you baws tip a couple bucks?
You don't become an OT baller with frivolous spending.

Use that tip money and put it to work for you. Buy oversized trucks with nutz, boats, private baseball instruction for Jaxxxsyn, etc., things that will appreciate in value and are an investment.

I don't tip at a coffee shop on the very rare occasion I am in one, but I also just order a black coffee. I have never been asked to tip at a fast food restaurant. The rest of those places are sit down type of places where it is customary to tip, what's the issue? Where is the extra pressure you are feeling? The payment via tablet method? If that's your issue leavingyou feeling pressured, sounds like you need to boost your testosterone and man up. Hit the custom button, pay what you feel they deserved and move on.

My favorite are the ones that have the 20% tip option selected automatically when you check out. They figure most people are going to tap too fast and not even care. I bet this works a lot of the time too.

t's the same point of sale app everyone uses now that causes this. Doesn't matter if it's at the barber shop or at the concession stand. Difference is I'll leave a tip after getting my hair cut.

I base it on McDonalds. Did the guy with the POS app that insists on tipping work harder than the guy at McDonalds brining me my food? No? Then no tip. Simple as that. Keeps my conscience clear too.

Use cash to avoid the iPad or keypad and you avoid the ask to tip.

The point of tipping in the restaurant industry has always been because servers have a lower minimum wage and their pay is based off of the tips they receive from the service they perform. You are now seeing it at places that have much higher minimum wage standards, or they have their own minimum wages; and these employees expect to be tipped.

Going out side of the food service industry, it's weird that your barber/stylist ask for a tip when they set their prices and rent a chair based on traffic. I have seen the tip jar at small boutique stores where the person helping you is the owner or family member.

I used to find it strange that you are expected to tip for cab service until Uber/Lyft details started coming out with how little the drivers are paid. No idea if true for cab service, but now I just assume it is and no longer feel it is odd.

No lie, just got back from lunch with my wife and after she said, "Oh, that was good idea," when the waitress brought that to our table, I said, "Yeah...if the goal is to guilt me into tipping more with her holding the damn tablet."

She got 15%.

I have always tipped the barber.

When I used to take cabs more often, it was common to simply let the cabby keep the change if you didn't expect any folding money back - basically just rounding up to the nearest dollar.

And generally I leave cash tips, so I don't have nay problem hitting the "no tip" button. Although I did ask one young lady one time, when she presented me with the tablet, "How about I just give you the tip?"

She didn't get it. Kids today...

Wouldn't 20% at a fast casual place be about $2-$3?
