This relentless tipping nonsense is stupid. Soon, you'll be asked to tip at the service station for filling up your vehicle yourself.

Guilt Tipping
quote:

Paying via tablet is now the convenient norm at pizzerias, coffee shops, fast food joints and other quick-service spots across the city, but the gadgets are quick to ask if you want to add a healthy gratuity to your order. Touchscreens typically prompt patrons to leave a tip ranging from 18 to 30% — and sometimes even higher — when they grab and go.

15% of $12.93 is $1.93. Are we tipping based off the tax too?

I don’t mind tipping two or three dollars at a fast casual place, but I’m not tipping 20 percent

I rather tip a couple bucks than come off like a cheap arse. If you can't afford another $1-2 then maybe you should be sticking to just eating the groceries you buy.

I've reached that age where I don't give an f about nothin so I enjoy looking the urban kid at the LSU game concession stand in the eye and hitting no tip when he turns the tip tablet around after getting me a hot dog.

It's the same point of sale app everyone uses now that causes this. Doesn't matter if it's at the barber shop or at the concession stand. Difference is I'll leave a tip after getting my hair cut.

Or here's a novel idea, just charge what it actually costs to employ folks so we don't have to go through this awkward dance every time we go somewhere.

I do not agree on those calculations basing the percentages off the total though, it should be basing it off subtotal only. So that is bs I agree.
