Civic center in my hometown in the very early 90s. Big dude got a running start and barreled through a bunch of 2x6s that were lined up.

I remember the first time I was amazed as the magician was able to pour milk into a rolled up newspaper and have it vanish. After the magic show was over, I asked him how he did it and that dumbass showed me. It was a small Ziploc baggie that he poured the milk into that was glued onto the newspaper

That completely ruined every ounce of innocence I had left in me as a child. Once I saw the power team I didn’t believe anything they were doing was real.

Tearing a phonebook is real. It doesn't really have much to do with strength, though. All it takes is knowing the technique and a little practice.

Let’s talk frankly for a moment. When Jesus wants someone’s arse kicked, he doesn’t send angels. He sends The Power Team.

I doubt it was them, but the big Baptist Church in West Monroe a long time ago had some guys like this come in. They legit brought in big Yellow Pages phone books, passed them through to people so they could see it was real. And legit broke the Yellow Pages phone book with their grip. I remember they bent all kinds of things and did crazy feats of strength, but the ripping of the Yellow Pages with two hands, to me, was like woah-that is serious grip and arm strength.

Same here. I can remember clearly going home and for a week or two trying to tear every book I could find in half.

This is true and not true. While there is a lot of technique to it, you still need to have incredible strength to perform the act. I knew one of the leaders of the Power Team my entire life until he passed recently. We would always get him to rip a phone book or a deck of cards. His hands felt like you were getting squeezed by a bear when he would shake your hands. Great group of guys, the world needs more men like them.

I remember the guy who blew up a douche bag until it popped.

It might not have been a douche bag but at 13 douche bag was way funnier.
