I am in a walking boot right now and my doctor offered to give me one. I declined.
Though I flew the other day and having a cane allowed me to skip into the priority line before TSA. To the point that i may just fly with a cane from now on. Lol.

Driving on the interstate for a few hours through the south a few days ago and it seemed like every single car behind me had a handicapped tag hanging on the mirror.

Most of them I see in Baton Rouge must be mentally handicapped.

I park far away from other cars if I can. Walkin' a bit doesn't bother me. What does is the way people back in/out of spots now.

Thanks, and goodbye. That's weak as shite.

I understand parking sucks, and you want to take advantage of what you can, but that's low. People like you led to a situation like this:

Target near my place. I'm walking out, see a chick in a vehicle parked in the handicapped parking, no tags.

While I'm walking, there is no shite someone that is actually handicapped walking with a walker, directly in front of this woman that was parked in the (h). The woman in the walker had to park farther away because of this genius.

I pointed (no knife hand) to the oxygen thief in the car, and pointed at the actual handicapped person trucking it because this oxygen their took her spot.

Go to the Travel board and read about all the people that request wheelchairs to board on SWA and then happily walk off the plane at the destination.

My wife had foot surgery and was on one of these knee roller goofy arse things. Her surgeon was going to write up one of those handicap things and I said frick No.

Did you drive her everywhere & bring the knee scooter to the passenger side for her? If not, you suck. I was non-weight bearing on one of those stupid things for 6 months. I had to carefully get out of my SUV on crutches, go around to the back, & carefully open the tailgate to get the scooter out without letting my foot touch the ground. I was so terrified of putting weight on my foot that it took me like 10 minutes from when I parked to make it to the damn sidewalk. If ever there was a temporary reason to have a handicapped tag, that was it.

I think most people who have actually been issued one for real reasons try not to use them. We have one in every vehicle because my 84 year old dad and we almost never us a handicapped space. I usually let him out at the door and park my big assed truck as far away as practical....I need the exercise and I seldom get blocked in (GMC 3500 long bed crew cab - I can almost do a u turn in the walmart parking lot - almost). If the parking lot is crowded and it would block the flow of traffic to let him out at the door we will use one but if not I just pull up to the door, he gets out, I get his walker out and away he goes. The spots ought to be used by people who need them but are still driving...when alone they really need them.

All that being said I seldom see all of them being used...most of the time they are about half empty. I notice lots of cars with them parked every where but the handicapped spots. I would bet that most of the people using them are people like us who have one for a family member and they are using them whether that person is with them or not.

You do know the number of spots is required by law relative to the number of regular spots?

I went through the car wash yesterday and noticed the Scat Pack Charger in front of me had a handicapped plate but was also "Military Honor". I had to look that up but if you are 50% disabled, you can get that plate. He was vacuuming his car and moving around pretty good. Didnt seem disabled in the way you'd normally think.

Over the years ive known a few guys that really worked the system to get disabled status. They were jumping on the wagon of any class action lawsuit that remotely touched them. One of them spends a large part of his life in the gym and it's not rehab. He's a bold lib.

I see people, usually trucks, parking in these spots daily with no tags at all.
