July 25, 1946. This was among the first nuclear tests we conducted in the aftermath of the Second World War. You all have probably seen it:

It’s wild how the Atomic Energy Commission was basically in charge of nuclear testing and would just blow up bombs to find out the most random information.

The name of the bomb dropped during Able was “Gilda” and Baker was “Helen of Bikini.”

One of my bucket list items that I will probably never get to check off is that you can now scuba dive down to the Saratoga and other ships of the "Nuclear Fleet". Would love to see some of that history.
