Not this miserable. When I was a kid growing up in Alabama, Summer temps in the low 80s were pretty normal, not the hellfire Summers we have now. I'm not a global warming alarmist, I think we're just going through a natural cycle before we'll have a cooling spell again... like science indicates has been the normal pattern over millions of years.
But damn. it's been hot AF. After 13 years, I finally left New Orleans, which is without a doubt the most miserably, oppressively hot and humid place I have ever lived. Never going back there or anywhere in the South or Eastern U.S. South of Maine again.

Wait, summer is hot?
Exactly. These climate change wackos think it just started getting hot the last ten years. I remember in the summer of 1985, it getting 95-100 for nine straight days in June during summer baseball season. I also remember being in the hayfield during the summer of 87, and it hitting 100 like 4 straight days. I was so glad for football two-a-days to start, because it got me out of hell on earth that was the hayfield in July/August. Hell, during my senior year in 1989, I remember them letting school out early for about 3 days the last week of August because it was over 100, and we didn't have AC in the school. Of course, all football players were told to report to the field for practice. Fun times practicing football in 102 degree heat. Climate change my arse.
ETA: I was right. I looked up the records for my part of MS, and from June 1-9 1985, it was over 96 everyday with some days hitting 98 and 99. From July 7-August 3 1987 it was 95 and above everyday, and from July 24-August 3 1987, it was 98 and above everyday with 2 days hitting 100,. It finally broke on August 4 with a high of 94. From August 24-September 3 1989, it was above 97 everyday. Football practice was miserable in that shite, but not as bad as that damn hayfield.
Also checked the summer of 80, because I remember a specific hot as hell heat wave, when 8 year old me ran to jump in our community swimming pool without shoes and burning my feet on the concrete. Sure enough from July 9-16, 1980 it was 99 or above everyday. It was over 100 five of those days, and hit 106 on the 14th, and 105 the next two days. That's when little me toasted my feet.

It’s 97% and that lie has been thoroughly exposed and completely discredited. The real number is 0.5%

In North AL during the 1980s the Summers averaged 87.56°, warm enough for the 9th hottest decade for Summers (June- September).*
*The data I have is from 1907 to current day.
Your mileage may vary slightly, but overall the 1980s don't rank very high for hottest Summers as far as your general area goes.

I live in East Central MS. I just took the average highs for July 1980-1989 and August 1980-89. I also did the average highs for the last ten years for July and August here.
The results:
July 1980-89 average high 91.5
August 1980-89 average high 91.6
July 2013-22 average high 91.4
August 2013-21 average high 90.9
Like I said the 80's were hot as frick in my part of MS. You know what? So, werer the 70's, 90's, 00's, 10's etc. Climate change my arse.

I saw on the morning news where they were talking about how hot it is in Europe and how its unusually high.. I guess I can google to see for myself, but I swear it seems like there is always a certain time of year.. When it gets really hot, that they are reporting "its unusually hot here".
Weather patterns change.. There was a time when Earth had an ice age. There will be times when there will be extreme heat, extreme cold, heavy rains and major droughts.

News is creating unnecessary drama
It was really hot in Europe a few years ago - they had heat advisories bc it was going to hit 85°F in Ireland

I just accept that it’s hot. Then It doesn’t bother me

Yeah, it’s only the news.
There aren’t 50 threads on the OT every summer about how “this is the hottest summer I can remember.” That never happens.

BEGINNING ON JULY 6...HOUSTON ENDURED 14 CONSECUTIVE 100 DEGREE DAYS
HOUSTON'S ALL-TIME HIGH RECORD OF 107 DEGREES OCCURRED ON AUGUST 23 1980
COLLEGE STATION REPORTED 43 DAYS IN WHICH THE HIGH TEMPERATURE REACHED OR EXCEEDED 100 DEGREES
8. 1917 HEAT WAVE AND DROUGHT
THE DRIEST YEAR ON RECORD FOR SOUTHEAST TEXAS WITH COLLEGE STATION REPORTING AN ANNUAL RAINFALL TOTAL OF 16.66 INCHES AND HOUSTON REPORTING AN ANNUAL RAINFALL TOTAL OF 17.66 INCHES
AN EXTREMELY HOT SUMMER AS COLLEGE STATION RECORDED 26 CONSECUTIVE DAYS OF 100 DEGREE TEMPERATURES OR GREATER
