Are we really getting mad about Jake from State Farm? Who gives a shite?

People on this very board complained about an interracial couple in a commercial.

It doesn't bother me, but it's such obvious pandering. And they are blatantly copying the Progressive/Flo model.

I don't think the complaint was "people shouldn't marry outside their races." It was more about the pervasive use of interracial couples as a cheap way to virtue signal.

Interestingly, I think that phenomenon has given way in the last few months. I don't think the corporate advertising goons have quite wrapped their heads around whether BLM types might even consider the interracial couple offensive. They may want to see 100% black couples instead, not some nerdy white or asian dude with a black chick.

The old Jake is still there. He works in the adjacent cubicle.

It’s terrible. Way to ruin a classic for the sake of forcing diversity, State Farm

Original commercial was funny. Ruined it trying to be socially correct with a token black.

They are doing more with the newer Jake. They have already started making new commercials with him, Alfonso Ribiero, and Chris Paul.

From what I heard the original Jake was an actual employee. State Farm wanted to capitalize on the whole "Jake from State Farm Thing", and play it up as much as possible, they knew the way to go would be to bring in a new guy.

The new guy doesn't bring up being black at all. He is simply Jake from State Farm. Why is it that random folks on the ot can't get past the fact that he's black. You all know there are black folks named Jack, right? And there are also black folks who work at State Farm.

Are people focused on his color rather than it's a new actor playing the same character and the old actor was included in the new Jake's first ad? That is what's weird and stupid about it. Why not change the name?

If the new actor was Lance from state farm, nobody would care.

I’m starting to think the husband has a Jake from State Farm fetish.

1) Multiple Jake’s being called late at night? When is the last time you called an insurance company in the middle of the night?
2) We only hear one side of the conversation “you would do that for me?” and assume it is about insurance but that could very well be some booty hole licking promises.
3) Wife is clearly suspicious and has probably caught him in the past. Possibly with Jake trannies as she says “she sounds hideous”

That's a white travel ball kid's name.

I will say the Neville Brothers have a song called "Brother Jake" that's really cool.

Yeah I don't understand this either. The original Jake wasn't some funny recurring character like Flo, Mayhem, or the other All-State guy.

He appeared in a SINGLE commercial and his only line was "Uh...khakis?". Why do people care?
