I think some money was allocated for the bridge but not enough.

I think they can be tolled as long as some lanes remain free - they’re probably using 210 as the “some lanes are free”

do you have to take 210 to get around paying tolls?

-takes 210 to save $3

-stops at bucees and spends $20 on beaver nuggets and a couple brisket sandwiches

That’s going to be a clusterfrick trying to collect tolls on an actual interstate.

And how can the feds sign off on this? This seems really shortsighted.

Is there any other toll on the I-10 from California to Florida?

If built the Mobile River and Bay Bridge would be a toll road too if ever built.

I think the price tag was in the same 2 billion dollar price range, but Mobile’s project involves a taller and longer bridge and longer Bayway.

Some contractor must have greased a few palms to increase the cost.

Mobile was gonna replace the tunnel with a bridge and widen the Bayway with a toll but the good folks of Baldwin County voted it down because they didnt want to pay a toll

How? Do we all have to get barcode stickers to get scanned and linked to our credit cards?

Its toll tag or pay by plate in mail

No stopping

Though getting people to pay by plate will be interesting, I have taken toll roads in texas and tossed the bill in the trash and nothing has come of it

Anyone want to bet that if Bucees built a location on the 210 loop, they could bankrupt the project by diverting enough traffic to cut into toll revenue.

A local artist borrowed some from a guy that had an original pair direct from the bridge and she made a cast of them. She used the cast to make replicas. You can get the replicas from her site but they are expensive.

Nice lady. Has some nice stuff in there. The guns look great.

She was nice enough to take the time one day we were there to show and explain her melting and casting process. We homeschool and were there during the day and she was engaging to my kids and offering her time to show.

It was a kind gesture.

That is how the Leeville Bridge and the under construction Belle Chasse replacement bridge and tunnel project will be collected. The company that will collect the tolls for the Belle Chasse project is taking over collecting the Leeville Bridge tolls.

Not that I travel much, I wish Louisiana would jump on the interoperability mandate and get on board with Texas Tag, and Sun Pass collections.

But before we go that far, Louisiana needs to force the Causeway collection system to work with a single account with Geauxpass. Unless it has changed, you could use your Geauxpass tag/sticker but you had to setup separate accounts to fund both Geauxpass and Causeway accounts.

Haven’t traveled around the country much have you? Automated tolling is a thing. It’s Louisiana that is behind. Cash tolls are dying quickly in other parts of the country.

Toll-by-plate or Sunpass (toll tag)

Tolls for ONLY express lanes here!

Prices that change for tolled express lanes. When vehicles are averaging under 60 mph, they raise the price. The goal is to keep express lanes at 60+ mph 24/7

I didn’t know that federal interstates could be converted into state toll roads

Laughs in Northern Virginia

Every interstate including and inside the beltway turns into a toll road during rush hour on work days. And costs are metered based on traffic.

An entire regional interstate system in a massive population center becomes tolled at the most critical time of the day for millions.

Someone hasn’t crossed the Leeville Bridge.

One way toll, 4.50 for a car, 21 dollars for a truck with 6 axles. Tolls will also increase again when DOTD switches from 8 classes of vehicles to 3. Lower rates for commuters, and free for residents south of the bridge and select populations such as teachers and certain veterans.

Causeway is just as expensive. 5 dollars per car, 3 with tag, 7 axle trucks pay 23 dollars.
