William Marshall, 1st Earl of Pembroke.
Supposedly never defeated in single combat. Older contemporary of the Lionheart.

I don’t agree with your list.
First up, no list of medieval heroes is complete without William Marshall. Serving 5 different kings, he is well cemented as a quintessential pre chivalric knights.
Edward the 1st to me is iconic. His role for modernizing England is certainly underrated. He had a wide breadth of military campaigns as well.
Godfrey of Bouillon- conqueror of Jerusalem and too humble to accept the offered crown (which is brother did accept on his death), Godfrey is iconic
That’s all I have right now.
Bonus, most pussy whipped:Count Stephen de blois. Famously his wife convinced him to go on crusade. And she often wrote him telling him she expected to return home a hero conquering Jerusalem. He returned to her without fulfilling her goal and she immediately told him to get his arse back to the holy land where he was promptly captured and killed

Charles Martel and his grandson Charlemagne. No two even come close.
It’s insane that two immediate family members could be so up to the task as those were. The more you learn about the time, the more blown away you are.
It’s even cooler when you learn that if you have any Western European ancestors, that you very well could be a direct descendant.

The 'Iron Hammer' Martel and his grandson are 1&2 on my Mount
Charles Martel, Charlemagne, Sultan Saladin, and William the Conqueror
quote:
Charles Martel reunited and ruled the entire Frankish realm. His victory at Tours is credited with turning back the Muslim invasion of Europe, a major turning point in European history.
Martel was the grandfather of Charlemagne, who became the first Roman Emperor since the fall of the Roman Empire

You can count yourself unique if you are NOT related to Charlemagne.

The greatest of them all^^^^^^^
quote:
If knights, and the great, the generous, and the highborn considered me a fool, I would take it as an irreparable affront; but that I am thought a simpleton by students who never walked or followed the paths of chivalry does not concern me in the least: a knight I am, and a knight I shall die, if it pleases the Almighty.
Some men walk the broad fields of haughty ambition, or base and servile adulation, or deceptive hypocrisy, and some take the road of true religion; but I, influenced by my star, follow the narrow path of knight errantry, and because I profess it I despise wealth but not honor. I have redressed grievances, righted wrongs, punished insolence, vanquished giants, and trampled monsters; I am in love, simply because it is obligatory for knights errant to be so; and being so, I am not a dissolute lover, but one who is chaste and platonic. I always direct my intentions to virtuous ends, which are to do good to all and evil to none; if the man who understands this, and acts on this, and desires this, deserves to be called a fool, then your highnesses, most excellent Duke and Duchess, should say so.”

Emperor Charlemagne King Alfred the Great Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar ("El Cid") King Richard I ("The Lion Heart")
If by heroes you mean powerful warriors that’s a good list. If by heroes you mean powerful persons of influence who directed future events/states/people/history I think you have to include Eleanor of Aquitaine
also, for fans of William Marshal, he is an ancestor of the Bruce and Stewart scots kings and the last of the Plantagenet kings of England. Also, Eleanor probably saved his life when he was a young knight. There is a 13th century biography written about him that is the most often cited account of his life which is a great read. I studied marshal in college for a year or so, that period remains my favorite to read about and study

As Martel and Marshall are justifiably noted, I'll add Charlemagne, Pepin III, Merovingian Queen Brunnhilde of Austrasia and her great rival, Consort Queen Fredegund and finally Simon de Montfort, 5th Earl of Leicester.
However the Italians deserve a thread of their own.
