California has the 5th largest economy in the world (ahead of Britain).
And just because a company moves it's HQ does not mean it moves the entire company. That's a naivety I see a lot.

South Dakota has lots of cool outdoor must-sees but you aren't really missing anything in DE. Outside the Wilmington Metro area (which is like a Baltimore/Philly hybrid without the history) the rest of the state is just a "country" peninsula and the best parts of that peninsula is in MD and VA.
Oh DE is good for shopping... no sales tax.

Which is exactly why I said people in San Diego were generally pretty cool. It was just the LA/Bay Area that I had issues with. Inland and the very northern part of the state were pretty laid back as well.
