I don’t agree with that list. The south has some incredibly innovative folk.
Like the other day a radiator hose busted and I took a piece of rubber and 2 hose clamps and covered the crack with rubber and clamped it on there. Drove truck for 2 days. That’s innovation otherwise known as “baw engineering or Afro engineering” depending on your background

California is below the national average for kids graduating high school. It's not some beacon of intelligence to brag about
Cost of living is absurd

Lived my entire life in Arizona and Nevada. Californians are no worse than any other state I've lived in or visited.
Nice people, a-holes, just regular people. I have family that lives in CA and they're good people.
CA also has distinctly different people by region. Inland is very different from the coast and north/south is very distinct. It's another reason I tend to think a lot of people stereotype CA.

Most of the baws would get along fine in the Inland Empire.
CA has huge variations in culture/people. I spend a lot of time traveling all over the country and there really isn't a region or even micro-region in CA I haven't spent time in and I have never had an issue with anyone there.
The one people never believe me about is Central Massachusetts. I try to explain it is like the South but with a different accent. There are these old small towns that function like a small town in the old South. Everyone knows everybody, people walk around and do at least some of their shopping at the little shops in the town square. Lots of the men are just baws and do things like ride their sleds (snow mobiles) on the frozen rivers stopping at various bars to drink. Just like boating around from Blind River Bar (RIP) to the Prop Stop etc just no bikinis.
Having been in 49 of the 50 states I have come to the conclusion people are just people.

How are things trending for #1? I know just my little corner of the world (Las Colinas) has a Fortune 5 HQ moving here from #1 and that’s like the fourth Fortune 5 company to move from #1 to the Dallas metro.
