Yeah, I'm not wearing a backpack if I have on a suit or even sports coat. That's just goofy and borderline trashy.

Says the guy who lives in Alexandria and probably owns one suit. Go to any downtown metro area and there will be a ton of people using a backpack.

I personally carry a saddlebag daily because I don't need that much shite, but when I travel I use a backpack

Amen brother.

Backpacks are gay. Unless you're in junior high. I go to these meeting with Dbags coming in with backpacks like they're Mormons. I get that they're practical and handsfree but they're just flat out gay.

You know fanny packs are practical too. Doesn't make them any less gay.

Dude coming in hot to a meeting with a backpack immediately gets judged as a loser wannabe. Most of these back packer business suit guys are poseurs. Backpacks are now part of the uniform for the man and fascist corporate types.

You really think you're gonna see Don Draper rocking a JanSport on Mad Men. They could do another 6 seasons and even he wouldn't stoop that low.

To the adults of the OT, just say no to backpacks. It is a terrible fad. 20 years from now you're gonna be looking back and wondering what you were thinking like The Rock does when he looks at that pic of himself in acidwash jeans with that gay leather fanny pack.

I carry a plain black one from time to time when I have to tote my laptop and other cumbersome items around. I have a career where I'm on the move a lot though and need some of this stuff at any random time.

Its mostly good for flying/airports and traveling because it keeps your hands free to carry coffee, a drink, food, whatever while pulling luggage along.

Protip - take a backpack to the beach next time you go to put your towels, flip flops, speaker, phone, etc in. It keeps everything from getting sandy and allows free hands to carry anything else. Mine also has a cold drink liner that holds up to 4 cans in one of the pockets.

Thank me later.

If you are constantly traveling, carrying around a heavy computer bag on your shoulder can actually be pretty bad for your back. Not to mention awkward to try and keep the strap over your shoulder as you are pulling a suitcase and trying to navigate an airport. Sticking with a lesser option because of a fear of gay is kind of gay.
