re: The main reason Gov workers are upset about returning to the office

Probably true for some, but not for all.
But the key question is not cultural:
Are they productive, working from home? If you have 4 hour commute, to and from work and most of your work is field work or deskwork that do not require you to be in the office, then it makes no sense.
For example sales professionals should be out in the market selling and interacting with customers and prospective customers.
Investigators should be out investigating
Computer programmers can easily work from home.
Also we seem to be cheering when people get fired...that is never a good thing.
Also federal workers help common citizens.
The FBI ensures law and order.....whether you like it our not it is true
The Federal Trade Commission prevents cheating.
The Securities and Exchange commission prevents securities fraud, so that your 401k, IRA and investments are protected.
The Federal Reserve keeps the banks honest.
The Federal Aviation Administration...ensures that we do not have mid air collisions every day and protects you each time you take a flight.
So does the Department of Transportation.
Even the IRS ensures that tax cheats do not get away while honest hardworking people like yourselves bear the burden of taxes.
FEMA...do I need to mention what FEMA does to people in south Louisiana.
The problem is these departments get it right 999/1000 times but the one failure gets highlighted.
But without these guys....every days would be chaos.
Also all of these guys are highly skilled and could perhaps make much more in the private sector.
Belive me, will get hurt more often without them.

Honestly, most of the folks I know that work government jobs have to have a second job, because the pay is too low to earn a valid living.

Working 2 jobs does not jive with the stereotype of government workers being lazy fricks.
Most of them are lazy fricks, but I can’t knock anyone who has the hustle to work 2 jobs.
30% of Federal employees are veterans who were hired because they were both qualified and veterans (identical in nature to DEI initiatives). If most federal employees are lazy fricks a sizeable number of them would be lazy fricks who also happen to be veterans.

I was working in a state office when Landry was elected and made all the lazy fricks return to the office. The tears were glorious. One of the dumbest things I heard was "I can't afford to drive here every day."

I don’t know how tied it is to government workers but a considerable portion of remote positions are to people with multiple jobs. There’s a whole subreddit on how they handle it ranging from truly grinding away at it all the way to doing the bare minimum (and honestly a little less than) so they can pocket the salary to pay down debt/build savings.

Don’t lump us all in one. I worked maintenance plumbing/kitchen equipment at the Overton Brooks VA. We never had a chance to work at home. Supervisions answers to everything problem was working the weekend.

Newsflash. Most salaried workers don't.
Whether in the office or at home.

Working folks blaming other working folks for every problem instead of corporate shareholder profit margins squeezing working class folks dry.
Seems like the strategy is working like a charm.

The average government worker is paid a salary of $144,000 with benefits included in that amount.

What they're doing is illegal.
You just made that up, idiot.

I am 100% for employees working in offices, but this is not that bizarre.
If someone took a remote job with the understanding it would remain remote, and the office is very far away, it could be very possible they cannot afford driving to work every day. Low salary jobs start to not make much financial sense when you have a 1+ hour commute each way.
I've consulted healthcare companies that have gone to hybrid remote and back to office models and the long distance remote people usually quit. Just part of it.

Last time I checked, it's impossible to be at 2 places at the same time. They're basically ripping off the tax payers, and deserve to get fired. Very similar to mob guys getting paid for no show union jobs.
