For those interested in maps, this "silk and spice" route map might be one nautical route to the far east and Ophir (Philippines?) used by Hiram's Phoenician fleet.
I do not believe his ships sailed around Cape Horn.
Hiram was the Phoenician king of Tyre (reigned 969–936 BC), who appears in the Bible as an ally of the Israelite kings David and Solomon.
Hiram maintained friendly relations with Israel, supplying Solomon with men and materials for the construction of the Temple at Jerusalem and cooperating with him in Mediterranean and Red Sea trading voyages. Solomon gave him tribute and Galilean territory in return.

I now tend to believe Columbus and the "explorers" of the 14-18th centuries were seeking Solomon's stashed gold.
Oh good lord.

If you have any theories on where Solomon's immense tonnage of Gold disappeared to, please share.
Do you have any logical explanations as to why several sailing expeditions and explorers suddenly embarked on wild goose-chases all over the world during the same time-time of the 1400s-1800s?
SEEKING GOLD (not land) was THE motivating factors. Imho.
The greatest storehouse in history and knowledge of (missing) gold was that of Solomon. There are plenty of stories about vast amounts of stashed gold in places like the far east, Australia, Peru, South America, even the Grand Canyon area -- that cannot be explained away.

No, I think they can.

People making up fanciful stories can't be explained away?

It was brought to the new world long before Columbus to The Seven Cities of Gold.

Please share.
"King Solomon's Mines" is a product of fiction by H. Rider Haggard's 1885 adventure novel of the same name.
There is no reference to “King Solomon’s Mines” found in the Bible, and King Solomon is only found in the Bible. There is no contemporary or archaeological evidence of a King Solomon outside of the Bible.

Most of it ended up in Vatican City.

The gold was located deep in the mines of Minolta.

Probably lost most of it when 287 of his 300 wives filed for divorce

The simplest answer is that it never existed. Solomon, if he existed at all, was nothing more than a minor tribal leader of a small city-state-like polity. It would be amazing to think that his kingdom, but not the large powerful empire surrounding it, was the one polity that had immense wealth.

“Suddenly”? You haven’t really studied the age of exploration, have you?
