ETA: we're going to have to raise the salary to attract better candidates....

The only BR board worse is that joke they call the Metro Council.

Longer than that. I moved here in 89, and it was a clusterfrick then. It's only gotten worse, despite annual reports of "growth."

And you are right. A federal judge ordered desegregation in the early 80's. It immediately went downhill.

List of EBRP School Superintendents:
-- Narcisse: 3 years
-- Leslie Brown: 4 months (resigned due to health issues; it doesn't take much of a cynic to think that she wanted out of this clusterfrick)
-- Warren Drake: 5 years
-- Bernard Taylor: 4 years
-- John Dilworth: 3 years
-- Charlotte Placide: 5 years

Why they don’t they hire the one the people say they want? If the board is that against it it makes me wonder what their priorities are

They need to get Michelle Rhee

The real tragedy here is that parish taxpayers ( me and others) have to pay taxes for this lame assed circus.

St George ISD can’t get here fast enough

Parker also made this into a long process that often required his approval slowing down any changes by the district (requiring approval for certain changes and so on). He seems to have screwed over city of BakerISD. The parents that pushed for creating the district either gave up and left or kids graduated and then the parents left or no longer cared. It was not the mess it is now back in the 80s. At the point he finally approved the district that voters had approved many years beforehand it should have stayed in EBRss.
Deseg stuff in the 80s and 90s was not like original ones. They were dealing with large differences in locations not separate but equal situations. Blacks could attend any school that served their location. EBR was very spread out with horrible traffic and completely relied on I10/I12 to get anywhere (and still seems to be the same now). When I lived in BR it just always seemed like things were father away than they were due to length of time to get anywhere. It also had true competition with religious and other private schools taking a lot of kids and their parents away already. Trying to hit numbers by pushing kids out of schools in neighborhoods that already saw a lot going to private schools was always going to fail and piss every one off.

I would've given bonus points if she could've somehow shoehorned another mention of "equity" in there somewhere. I know exactly what type of person this is just by reading those two quotes.
Also what do her equity goals mean when the entire thing is basically just black kids?

A third of my property tax does! And my kid goes to private school. I also was left out of St. George & am still in unincorporated BR, so I get to continue paying for BRPD/BRFD which doesn’t service me. It’s great.

Can they appoint Kip as the super? Even if he’s not well, he’s still be better than any other option they have.
