And then there are the men who own suits that are a well tailored jacket and matching Bermuda Shorts.

Have those suits ever looked like they belonged? Even at Tulane Summer Lyric Theater?

I've never known a bride, groom, or corpse that complained that a guest dressed down.

The same goes for church. Nobody wears their "Sunday Best" to services any more...including me.

This is definitely a thing. When i was a kid, my dad and basically every man who was a member of the church wore suitd every Sunday. Going to church as an adult, my pastors go-to outfit is jeans and a t-shirt.

Lots of guys wearing just a polo and khakis. sad.
Funeral on a Tuesday means that a lot of those people in attendance left work for part of the day to come pay their respects. IMO, its more important that the person cared enough to take time out of their workday to show up to the funeral than it is to what they wore.

Unless its family or someone I was close enough with to take the whole day off work for their funeral, I'm probably showing up to the funeral in my work clothes (khakis and polo) since I'd be coming from work and going back to work after the services.

Why should a jacket be worn when it is hot?

Why do I need wear homage to having a dick around my neck?

They are but I love the way I feel in a sharp, well fitted suit. Plus the looks I get from women makes me feel even better.

With that being said there's a lot to learn with wearing and buying suits.

Suits are expensive and a lot of guys who don't need them for work have one for weddings and funerals, and then get too fat for it and don't have the money or time to go buy a new one. It's sad. It's pathetic. But it's life.

This is the OT. We can all still wear the same suit we wore when we graduated from college. Not that we still own it, though. Lol at all the poors who still have that suit.

When you attend a wedding or funeral in the middle of the summer, you won’t want to wear a suit.

my (Southern) family has a lot of baw in it and i'm used to those weddings being very relaxed

but a lot of my friends have had weddings that are expected to be formal and it's shocking when people show up in jeans and a fishing shirt

Fat people probably don't like the way they look in suits.

Lots of people are fat.

With all due respect to your deceased baw, he won't know whether or not someone didn't wear a suit to his funeral.

Agree that standards have slipped too low. One thing I really liked in France is that if you show up dressed like a slob they will turn your arse away at the door.

Go to a proper high church Presbyterian or Anglican church and you won't see that kind of travesty.

Edit: AND your theology will be all the better for it.
