I see what you're saying but if the police started arresting homeless people for "acting crazy", well they could do that all day every day. It's a low priority for the police is all I'm saying, sir.

If I hit that crackhead, I could be going to jail for manslaughter. frick that. He’s going to jail for breaking the law not me for being a law abiding citizen.

I noticed they are back in Baton Rouge and they seem very drugged up.

I don't blame the cops. What the frick are they supposed to do with them? I live in Long Beach and go to Los Angeles regularly so I am familiar with the problem. Imo it is a societal problem not a law enforcement issue.

My post wasn't really trying to put any blame on the cops just saying that the reason they're out in such numbers during the Covid shutdowns in NYC (and doing things they normally don't like defecating in the street, big gatherings of 20-30 with a lot fights etc etc) is that:

1) many more than usual are trying to avoid homeless shelters due to the virus

2) the police--like you say -- have nowhere to bring them, especially right now, and also don't want to get near them due to the virus

I completely agree that homelessness is societal issue more than a law enforcement one. In the area of Brooklyn where the shop is, the vast majority of them suffer from some serious mentally illnesses.

Only thing that surprises me is you were in a fast food drive thru for 10 minutes. Unless it was Popeyes.

There used to be a really bad “homeless” problem in the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky/Southern Ohio region. Then a shipment of heroin laced with some strong Chinese fentanyl turned up in the area. “Homeless” problem isn’t near as bad as it was.

A homeless man hit me up for some money the other day. I asked him if he had received his stimulus check yet. Mainly because he approached me with a hand in his pocket and I didn't know if he had other intentions.

I live right by downtown Denver and I am two streets over from their main camp. The city used to do a cleanup of a street 1-2x per month but haven't done anything since February.

In response, and with the warmer weather, they're out of control. ~40 tents on one street and now they're popping up on my street directly across from homeowners.

I moved here not knowing how bad it was and will likely leave this town as soon as my lease is up.

If the streets of New Orleans won’t kill the homeless then Rona ain’t got a chance.

They’re not in my neighborhood yet thank god, they’re just lining Colfax and probably sleep in Sloan’s Lake at night. But the authorities don’t think realize this is a ticking time bomb? When that gets into the homeless population, it’s going to make things twice as bad. These brain dead lunatics have no concept of social distancing. The park in front of the Capitol building is a shitshow right now.

Our homeless/junkie/mentally ill/sex offender population is out of control. The number of camps all over the place is outstanding. The City Council has the police’s hand tied.

I’ve never understood catering to a demographic that doesn’t vote.

False. You would go to jail if you ran. Not if you stayed, attended and called police. Worse they could get you on is wreckless driving. He jumped out into the street.
