Believe Houma had a Holidome
That is true. It was across from Vandebilt. Trapp Cadillac/Chevrolet bought the property. They tore the hotel down to make more storage space and future expansion.
If I recall correctly, they lost their affiliation to Holiday Inn when another newer hotel on MLK was built to the newer Holiday Inn standards. In the last few years in operation, it was the Quality Hotel.
I can recall going to numerous Rotary Club, SCIA, Chamber, training sessions, regional conferences, and other meetings held in their conference room. Depending on the meeting, lunch was served by going fill up your plate at the poolside buffet.
I remember going eat one day there and eating at the buffet, when I looked at my statement I saw a charge for Lafite’s instead of the hotel. I almost thought that my card was stolen since there is a Lafite’s in the French Quarter.
Part of its downfall started when they lost their status with Holiday Inn and the Courtyard Marriott was built near the Civic Center. The who’s who of organizations, conferences, and training sessions moved their events to the Marriott and their banquet rooms.
Funny thing about that, Parish President Michel Claudet owned the Quality Hotel/Holidome. During his administration, the Marriott was built in 2010 as the official hotel for the Civic Center events. The Marriott bought the land from the parish adjacent to the civic center. The parish designated that space for a hotel.

I've Googled for evidence but have come up empty, wasn't the Holiday Inn in Baton Rouge on Airline Hwy at I12 a Holidome before it was expanded & remodeled?

I took my family to that exact hotel on a cross country trip circa 1996. It was a great stay as we posted up in the tiki bar while the kids played for hours. I felt like a baller as I never experienced anything like that as a kid. It was definitely a “we’ve made it in life” experience.

I have stayed in a bunch of old Holidomes across the USA. Most have been rebranded as Clarion.

That's my recollection. Used to go to baseball card shows there.

There use to be one in Kenner, near the airport, back in the late 70’s-early 80’s.
Our family would go down for the weekend (Saturday night). My parents would give us each $20 to play the arcade games, swim, putt-putt, etc, and they would go out for the night, leaving us there all alone (ages 8-14).
Could you imagine that now?

Houma did have one. Used to have a pretty nice New Year party
Was just about to post this. Probably the most fun I ever had on New Years was there. Everyone would migrate to their rooms to fix their drinks, then walk out to where the party was going on. Was a cool setup.

Mom and Dad got into a huge fight one afternoon. Mom took me and left the house then went to the bank and got 10 rolls of quarters.. We went to the one in Kenner and check in. Once we get in the room mom gives me a roll of quarters and tells me to go have fun. I was in heaven. When I would return for another roll. She was there at the table puffing on cigarettes and by the phone. She must have been anxious as hell. Meanwhile I was having the time of my life.

Didn't Lafayette have a Holidome?
Yes and it hosted many conferences and such through the years. Last time I went there was to a CLE seminar about 10 years ago. It was set off the service road in a wooded area on Evangeline Thruway a few block from I-10. I was wondering about it recently … I’m sure it’s not a HI anymore. Considering the part of town it is probably more like Thunderdome than Holidome today

Growing up I thought the one in Monroe was the epitome of luxury. Kids would have birthday getaways there

The GOAT. Stayed there for Spring Break in 7th grade…1982. Thought I had died and gone to heaven. Indoor pool right outside our room, arcade, ice cream shop/snack bar, virgin pina coladas in the restaurant. When two cute guys from school also showed up there…good times.
I will watch Jaws 2 just to get a look at the inside.

Same. That was my gold standard as a kid.
