I wouldn't put anything past that school district. I don't believe they have it in them to figure out the logistics of this in time for Monday.
Well they aren't starting back until Wednesday. And that's their "goal" since they are trying to get a feel for how the situation is by getting the employees to their schools on Monday if possible.

The EBR Schools Facebook page is getting blasted for informing people that they're going to attempt to open schools next week. These idiot parents and even teachers/staff are cursing them for this decision. As if there will be no consideration for students/teachers/bus drivers who are dealing with the aftermath of the flooding.
In my opinion, opening schools next week would be showing no consideration for students or teachers. There are zero good reasons to start school back up next week.

Provide some sense of normalcy. There are also families unaffected at both work and home and need their income at work to support the family.
I truly understand both sides. But the reaction to EBR School's post about Trying to start back Wednesday was completely un-professional.

What's the big deal with starting maybe another week later, I guess East Baton Rouge Parish Schools must uphold the high national ranking of excellence for La in education, we certainly don't want to fall to...never mind, already last.

I see where you're coming from, but 95% of St Amant took on water and many of the homes still have water. 105,000 of approx 140,000 ppl who live in livingston parish, lost everything they own. Think about that. Those people deserve time to get their lives back in order, find places to live, new cars to drive, clothes to wear.
I wouldn't react the way they did, but they have every right to be pissed off. Work/child balance really isn't any different than when kids are out for summer break. People still work in the summer.

They are saying it might be 2-3 months before LP starts back. 15 schools were effected. Some being used as shelters.

Just got an alert from BRZ that water is coming over I10 Eastbound between Highland and Hwy 73 (Prairieville). Says right lane is CLOSED with a 4 mile backup of traffic.

WTF? I went through there 45 minutes ago and the water was 10 feet or more from the road on both sides.

Just saying what the alert said.

The right lane of 10 east past Highland is blocked because of water. They are trying to put up a tiger dam. Just wanted to give anyone a heads up that travels 10 east traffic is backed up past Highland Road. Stay off of 10E if possible.

Just listened to Delgado on 107.3 trying to plead his case for removing the curfew. Would love to know what his tune would be if he was busy cleaning his home and businesses and basically starting his life over. Came off like a whiny, insensitive douche IMO. So we should remove the curfew so bars and restaurants can stay open? Those folks can't sacrifice some business for a few weeks for the good of entire towns and communities?

That's insane. The water wasn't anywhere close to the road an hour ago. WTF happened for it to rise that fast?

Not sure if yesterday afternoons showers had something to do with it or if this is a result of the sandbags that are being placed. Like someone said, this event has really shown me how little I know about the hydrology of our area.

People need to work, need to make money and need bits of normalcy.. Trust me when I say that business is already suffering regardless of a curfew.. This summer has been a disaster to small business in the area..

Anyone know if the water down Gold Place Rd in St. Amant has dropped enough to drive there?

This may be a dumb question but I'm curious. It appears, from watching radar, that north Louisiana has had a lot of rain in the last two or three days. Has anyone heard if downflow from those rains may cause any issues down here in the next few days? I remember the March floods came about, in part, due to heavy rains in north Louisiana.
