Haven't been on here today. How quickly is the water dropping?

Seeing storm cells around the area doesn't seem to help it

Hang on to them until hurricane season is over. Then you can build a machine gun nest.

I'm assuming the curfew is still in effect? I'm not getting back from New Orleans until about 11:30. How problematic is that? How strict are they on it? Not looking to get hassled too bad.

Does anyone here know of any resources available for sandbag removal?

Do you have a garage? I'd load them up in there for a couple of months at least until after hurricane season.

Brothers house off Beco/Teal Ave still has 3' in it. Water waist deep still along Beco From Stringer Bridge as of 11 am today.

Should have clarified that his slab is built up about 4 feet from the ground.

Another problem that has just been discovered is that someone kicked in his front door. They are looking to see what was taken.

Hope those of you out there lock and load and take care of the mother frickers responsible!

Do you think it could have been the authorities looking for victims?

Got a boat to my house today... 8' high off the ground and water was about a foot under it.

However I'm hearing looting is gonna be a problem.

If your home did not flood but is looted, is that a Homeowners Insurance claim?

931 is good, a little running water over the road between Leaders and Tureaus. Most vehicles are driving single file where it's most shallow. When I passed there about 3:30;there was still a truck parked in the right lane in front of Tureaus. I hope someone moves it soon, it could be a hazard after dark.

The little church and cemetery on corner of Keller look good. Past the church the water gets deeper. Houses on Robin Trail off of Keller got anywhere from a few inches to foot.

HWY 933 Was passable from Keystone through 44 as of 4:15. Had people continuing down 933 so I don't know how clear it is past 44 as I took 44 down to I-10.

Water not going down as fast as it was in the area but still definitely going down.

Most HO policies insure for theft losses. Check your coverages. A police report is usually required with the proof of claim. It might be hard to get one for a while with most police working rescue.

Which areas are still in danger? I know that the water is still creeping up in Iberville/Ascension from Alligator Bayou. It seems like a lot of water in Baton Rouge is falling pretty quickly.

I-10 should be open. I saw a good bit of people taking that exit so you should be able to make it there if you can make it to I-10.

Yes, Lamar Dixon roads are clear all the way from Baton Rouge to the site. I was there today.

Animals need fans and extension cords and maybe bungies or zip ties to hold the fans!

Per the Ascension Parish Authorities. All low lying areas near inland waterways.

The flood prone areas around Bayou Fountain are definitely still in danger of flooding. Use this LINK to see if different areas around there are in the blue flood zone. Most of these areas have been safe because of the water overtopping manchac road and flowing into Spanish lake swamp.

The Bluebonnet gauge has only moved down 3 inches since yesterday afternoon's rain. New rain is falling in that watershed right now. In fact, a flash flood warning is in effect. After this rain has had some time to move down Bayou Fountain, the gauge will probably show a new high at that gauge.

Normal (heavy and short) rains that usually just drain off into ditches now have no where to go. The ditches and bayous and swamps are full. So the flat areas near Bayou Fountain are much more likely to flood simply because the NEW water has nowhere else to go.

Add to the above the fact that the Spanish Lake swamp is filling up. Once that happens any new rainwater on this side of I-10 will not be able to go there. Over the last couple of days the water flowing from Bayou Manchac into Spanish Lake swamp has been the only reason that these low areas around Bayou Fountain have not already flooded.

Eventually the water will all go to the Amite. But it may be days before it gets down to safe levels, and if we get a lot of new rain in that time, things will get worse.
