Where will the overflow from Spanish Lake go?
Posted on 8/16/16 at 4:47 pm to supernovasky
I live in University Club and just got this info via email from the neighborhood.
This is from Colonel Fritz with LA National Guard...
The lock that connect Bayou Manchac and Spanish Lake breached at Alligator Bayou. A lot of the water that would normally back up towards UC is now dumping into Spanish Lake. With Spanish Lake filling up, it will cause flooding to the women's prison in Saint Gabriel and the prisoners are now being evacuated to other prison facilities. I've also been told that there is now water on Hwy 74.

Based on elevations, east to Bluff, south toward 74, then north to Manchac.

Who determines ratings? All who continue to watch her. That includes everyone criticizing her. Live TV can be tough.

Bayou Braud and Bayou Paul are the two largest (normally feeders) of that area. Otherwise any lowland with elevation below that area...if it fills up. I would watch those two for backflow and any indications of rising water from people along Ridge, 30, and 74. The SL swamp can hold a tremendous amount of water...17,000 acres even 4ft deep is significant.

A friend of ours just said there's a flash flood watch for EBR but I'm not seeing anything about it. Is this true, and where at exactly?

No national coverage whatsoever
I got an email from a coworker in Philly asking if we were ok. She said there's been a lot of coverage there

Still coming up in pecan grove but seems to be significantly slower..should I ride it out?? The wife and kids left a while ago...

Posted on 8/16/16 at 4:57 pm to CENLALSUFAN
Why ride it out after seeing what others have endured the last few days?

Maybe this has been covered in the 400+ pages, but why does DOTD shut off the cameras when the roadway is closed?

Not familiar with the neighborhoods...where is that related to Braud/Bluff/74?

Damaged due to high water. Not shut off.
