Fyi, just for this email. I work for DPS&C:
Due to the extreme flooding situation throughout parts of Louisiana, Commissioner of Administration Jay Dardenne is announcing that state government offices will be closed Wednesday, Aug. 17, in the following parishes: Acadia, Allen, Ascension, Assumption, Avoyelles, Cameron, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Evangeline, Iberia, Iberville, Jefferson Davis, Lafayette, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, St. Charles, St. Helena, St. James, St. John the Baptist, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Vermilion, Washington, West Baton Rouge and West Feliciana. These are different parishes than were closed Monday and today.
Essential personnel not dealing with personal flood damage or helping others should contact their supervisors.
State officials continue to monitor weather conditions across the state, and this announcement may be updated.
State employees should be aware of the following phone numbers to call, which will be updated with information regarding office closures: 1.800.360.9660 or 225.342.0498.

The fact AT&T cell phones are such a critical element to disaster operations is so concerning. Walkie talkies been around a long damn time and can cover a large area.

ACOE with NG i would think. ACOE would be the ones to make that call.

water still rising?
It's odd..the water is coming backwards through the culvert but it's not really rising..I don't know where is going but it's still in my ditch..not over the driveway yet..

Why are Cameron, Allen, and Jeff Davis offices closed? Sorry if a stupid question but I live out of state and I did not think the flooding was that far west

Can't speak to Allen, but Jeff Davis and Cameron have been getting smoked. Plus Lake Arthur is about to bust loose in Jeff Davis.

I have no idea why either, but all I can think is maybe they don't have the manpower to sort through used clothing? I mean, you and I might have nice/clean clothing to donate, but donated clothing is often not in very good condition or from a very clean home. So it isn't something you can just hand out without sorting through.
This is only a wild guess.

Pretty sure Lafayette and Jeff Davis parishes both got nailed.

Flooding

Correct. Some offices are fine, but people can't physically get to them. Shouldn't penalize them for this.

ETA: it's still raining in those areas
