Bourré and ProudLSUmom do y'all know if the Babins (R&D) and the Moran's are ok on Daniel Guidry Rd? I know they had to have taken water in the house. They are customers of mine

Not that it necessarily pertains to this thread, but I heard on the radio a few minutes ago that there was a wreck on the eastbound Bonnet Carre and traffic is backed up 4 miles already. I just thought it might be helpful for anyone trying to get to Nola.
News just said that was cleared up. Google maps shows a backup from the curve where everyone slows down back to the LaPlace exit. Not 4 miles though.

I just asked a sheriff at that station across from Kleinpeters, because I have to go to N.O. from B.R. tomorrow. He said I-12 is open both ways from B.R. to Slidell, then I could go down to N.O. on I-10. He wasn't sure about going down on I-55, but said I could call his dispatch at 225-389-500 to find out. Try that. I can't get 511 to answer. He told me not to head down toward N.O. on Airline or I-12.

It's not that big of an obstacle for you to clear

I think so. They were running boats on Daniel Guidry and the back of Savoy early on Monday morning because of Black Bayou flooding. I didn't see anyone left on DG by the time I left Monday.

This. No need to go past Nola, then back. 55 or even Causeway if you like death traps.

Just checked Bayou Manchac behind CCLA and is down a few inches from earlier today. The flowrate is still significant though. BF should drop if more water is flowing into Spanish Lake basin due to the breach. Dont know if that is good news or not from those on the otherside in Ascension and Iberville.

Yes. I am close, waiting as patiently as possible. I am pretty sure I know which house is your parents based on our conversations earlier. Did they have flood insurance?
They didn't have flood insurance. That is why I prayed so hard for the sandbagging to stop the water. I'm waiting to get pictures of their house from my brother's visit today.
R Gautreau said yesterday the water was chin high at his house on the corner of Beco and D. Guedry.

The guage just past the Manchac/Alligator/Fountain split is still climbing though. Now at 12.05' up from 11.98' from an hour or so ago.

I don't think there was a breach. That report was before 5p and the 5p gauge readings @ Bluff & Alligator Bayou stayed consistent with the 3p ones.
Fountain actually went up by an inch with the 5p reading.

Just went and looked again for my wife cause she was asking..but it looks like it may be going back out towards the bayou..almost looked like it dropped some from the water lines on the road...fingers crossed

I hope there wasn't one. That's so unfourtunate when people use terms like "breach" when they mean "overtopping". A breach is representative of a failure... why the news stations dont interview the ACOE is beyond me. Unless i missed the interviews. Those guys should know the topography and the waterways better than most and could provide some valuable insight.

Bayou Braud and Bayou Paul are the two largest (normally feeders) of that area. Otherwise any lowland with elevation below that area...if it fills up. I would watch those two for backflow and any indications of rising water from people along Ridge, 30, and 74. The SL swamp can hold a tremendous amount of water...17,000 acres even 4ft deep is significant.
What is the status with Spanish lakes Ave neighborhood in St Gabriel at Highway 30 south Bayou Paul Rd ? Is it under threat?

I passed under it on Oneal 30 minutes ago and it was open.
