The part of the Highland Creek subdivision near Sammy's and the Stockade has been flooded for a couple of days. It appeared to be around shin-deep. The streets behind Burrito are flooded, as are the streets in Meadowbend.

The flooding we received in our section of Highland Creek has been confirmed to limited areas near the storm drains. Luckily we can still get out of the neighborhood either by Staring or Highland.

Bengal,

Any idea if those condo's near the front took on any water? My sister lives in one, and is at my house.

Thanks

(and my parents live on Newcastle, and they're here also)

Per Ascension Homeland Security page:

quote:

UPDATE: CURRENT INTERSTATE CLOSURES

Monday, August 15, 2016 6:29 AM
EMERGENCY ROAD CLOSURES – Currently, more than 280 state roads are closed due to high water.

Below is an updated list of interstate flood closures in southeast Louisiana:

• I-12 East and West is closed between US 61 (Airline Highway) and I-55 (Hammond)
• I-10 East and West is closed between US 165 and I-49
• I-10 East and West is closed between Siegen Lane and LA 73

There is a closure on the detour route for I-10 East and West between Siegen and LA 73. US 61 North and South is closed between Highland Road and Antioch Road. Northbound traffic is being detoured to LA 948 (the highland extension) to LA 73 (Jefferson Highway), to Antioch Road, and back to US 61 North. Southbound traffic is being detoured to Antioch Road, to LA 73 (Jefferson Highway), to LA 948 (the highland extension), and then to US 61 South.

Travelers can find information regarding road closures at www.511la.org or by dialing 511 from their telephone and saying the route or region where they are seeking information. Out-of-state travelers can access the system by calling 1-888-ROAD-511 (1-888-762-3511).

During unfavorable weather conditions, motorists should drive using the following safety tips:

• Do not drive unless you must.
• Drive slowly and carefully.
• Avoid driving into standing or running water.
• Avoid driving while distracted.
• Avoid using cruise control when visibility is low or road surfaces are wet.
• Always allow for extra driving time.
• Make sure there is plenty of room between vehicles.
• Have your headlights on when using windshield wipers
