Bluebonnet should continue to rise over the next several hours. We got a big rise in Santa Maria about an hour ago. It was about 2-3 hours before we saw the first rises there translate into rises on Bluebonnet, so yeah, around 3 would be a good time.

I am actually looking forward to Impotent's 1:30 trip.

I think it goes without saying...be safe and don't get into trouble. You know what they say about rushing water over roads.

The Great Flood of 2016: Backflow Flooding Occuring (8/14/16)
Transmission times might be altered due to increased stage. Channel roughness having less of an effect with increased depths. Should be interesting to see the comparison.

Haydel, I'll be clear I believe you, it's just very interesting to watch complex flood dynamics at work.

I personally think the whole area is good for another couple feet if not more.

Report from someone at Lakes at bluebonnet the bank, fast food restaurants, and Albertsons parking lot are flooding. Lakes at bluebonnet itself is dry, it backs up to Bayou fountain.

I bet that water at Abertsons will look nuts at daybreak - it's not going to stop back flowing anytime soon.

The area you are talking about being flooded between Burbank and Nicholson is swamp and usually floods when it rains hard (and holds water during wet season). It comes from that LSU pasture land, which comes from the back of Riverbend IIRC.

There is a bayou that runs on the south end of the woods that is probably overflowing into the area. That bayou crosses under the RR tracks and Nicholson right before where they were doing dirt work when I lived there 3 years ago, which is right where LSU FETI is. I have seen that spot flood multiple times from Nicholson to Burbank, and maybe twice with water on both roads.

It is usually wet though. Wouldn't be surprised if it was just water that can't drain

Judging from what happened on Jones Creek and Claycut things got bad and did not stop flowing. A couple feet more would be a conservative estimate IMO.

It's probably more than that, hammer time. Water is apparently soon going to be above the bridge on Burbank near Albersons. That bayou flows into the area you are talking about and it is multiple feet over the road on Nicholson.

My sister is near the fire dept. She only did her entryways also.

My nephew lives across the street from her and water is in his house and is up to Stringer Bridge.

I was just filling you in on how that area works. Apartments behind Lakeside flooded a bunch of times while I was living in BR, and that's why. That whole section of swamp goes underwater usually every year to some degree.

Just looked, and it is called Elbow Bayou. I have been in those woods before, and there is also a small creek running through them towards Burbank.

Anyone have an update in the neighborhood around hwy 73 and Bayou Manchac? Have they seen the worst or is the floodwater still coming in?
