ATT cell service should be back up in most of Ascension and Livingston

Ive been seeing a lot of calls for boats, even this late. I'm thinking now that service is back they're finding a lot more people waiting on help.

Also explains the number of rescues being so low mentioned earlier.

What responsibilty will ATT best for an outage at such a crucial time?

This isn't really the time or place for that discussion, but anyone who lives in South Louisiana and has lived here for a long time really should have flood insurance - even if they are not in a flood zone.

Not having flood insurance is similar in line to not having health insurance imo

Just pulled the paperwork. I may be reading this incorrectly, so someone help me. Does this say that the bullshite mandatory insurance they make you buy WONT cover a flood?

"As a limited exception to the foregoing limitation of Owner's liability, Occupant who has not provided proof of insurance required above shall be automatically enrolled in the facility's Storage Center Protection Agreement (Plan) and as long as Occupant pays the prevailing monthly charge for such Plan, Occupant shall be entitled to the limited property damage benefits described in this subparagraph as follows: In consideration of the monthly payment for the Plan, which amount is initially set at $10.00 per month, but which may change at any time by the Owner, the Owner assumes limited liability for loss of or damage to Occupant's property stored within the Unit, up to twenty-five hundred dollars ($2,500.00) for losses solely caused by the following, which are limited by the parentheticals in each section: (i) Fire, explosion or smoke; (ii) Theft, vandalism or malicious mischief (signs of forcible entry must be visible); (iii) Roof leak or water damage (except water damage caused by loss or damage caused by flood); (iv) surface water (underground water or water that backs up through or overflows from a sewer, drain or sump is not covered); (v) Windstorm that first causes damage to the building housing the Unit; (vi) Collapse of the building where your Unit is located; (vii) Impact of aircraft, missile or vehicles. This limited assumption of liability is a limited modification to the waiver of liability stated elsewhere in the Agreement. Conflicts between the two provisions shall be resolved in favor of the Owner's limitation of liability. This Plan does not cover and Owner has no liability for loss of or damage to Occupant's stored property beyond that described in this subparagraph and the Owner will not pay for damage to Occupant's stored property caused by the following: (x) Moths, insects, rodents or vermin; (y) Mold, mildew or wet or dry rot; (z) War or military action; (aa) earthquake or volcanic eruption, including leakage from sprinkler systems caused by an earthquake or volcanic eruption (bb) Nuclear reaction, radiation or radioactive, biological or chemical contamination; (cc) Unknown or mysterious causes, and will not pay for any damage to motor vehicles, boats or other property if stored outside of the Unit; money, travelers checks, money orders, stamps, accounts, deeds, bills, or securities; jewelry, watches, precious or semi-precious stones, furs, or clothing trimmed in fur, antiques and works of art; animals; stolen goods or contraband; anything else stored outside the Unit or within the Unit if the Unit is unlocked. The exclusions in the preceding sentence prevail over the covered items. Owner will pay the lesser of the actual amount you have paid to repair the lost or damaged item(s) or to replace them with property of similar quality. In no event will Owner pay more than Twenty-five Hundred Dollars. If rent is not received within 5 days of the due date, Occupant's participation in the Plan shall terminate and Owner shall not be liable for loss of or damage to Occupant's stored property from any cause whatsoever. At Owner's sole discretion, Occupant's participation in the Plan may be reinstated upon payment of all rent and other charges due and owing. Participation in this Plan may be canceled by Occupant upon 10 days written notice to Owner. This Plan may be canceled by Owner upon 30 days written notice to Occupant. The Plan is not an insurance policy and the Owner is not an insurance company or an insurance agent. The Owner assumes this business risk in this Plan, but it may purchase insurance coverage to transfer part or all of the liability retained under the Plan."

If you're not already at LSU doing research, you should be, either in the applied or basic side. When this is all over we should talk.

I already have my masters in a statistics related field and do lots of statistical modeling for companies in the area :)

Water is rising at the rear of Briarwood Estates. The backflow is here.

Doesn't surprise me, earlier it was reported that Santa Maria was flooding heavy from Ward.

That's what I thought but I wasn't sure if reading wrong. They're gonna get sued, if I had to guess. That's slimy.

Yeah. Flood is not covered. On top of that they are only responsible for up to $2,500 total

Yeah I'm not an expert but seems pretty clear flood damage isn't covered. Unless the contract itself is somehow invalid...but otherwise it doesn't look promising

That's fricked up.

I'm sorry picc, but it doesn't seem protected by flood. I'm probably not the best at reading these things though so please don't take my word for it.
