So what if I just buy one right now? Still good? One big or two parallel better option? I'm thinking two parallel.
I think if you go and buy one right now you need to be prepared to pay for it out of your own money. There just is no telling what they'll approve or not approve.

I got a 11,000 watt. I can see FEMA be like well he bought 2 generators and hooked em up parallel but we are only going to reimburse for 1.
I’ll use mine to run my house may thru November for summer weather then let my parents use it December thru April to run their house for winter weather
I have a portable inverter generator already but I’ve been wanting a bigger one and was looking so if I get reimbursed that’s great and if I don’t then I was already looking at them anyway. $900 for a generator that can run my house isn’t to bad and it weighs enough that it won’t be a snatch and grab

Follow-up question: Do they reimburse for items purchased but not yet received? I heard about the generator deal and went ahead with an online order of about $2k (PTO generator that I've had my eye on for years). It'll arrive sometime around year's end if we're lucky. My old man is still waiting on one he ordered back in April/May. Also, the chainsaws I've been looking at are all on back order, so that'll be something I get after the window for reimbursement closes.

About $350
True story. My wife once told me that she wanted to move to Australia because she could make $350 a pop for sex. I told her I was moving there with her. She asked why, and I said, "Because I want to see how you'll live on $700 a year."

I think you need to be more worried about your Homeowners insurance coverage than income level for these .

See the response below for the response I received after sending an email to askia@fema.dhs.gov asking how to get the reimbursement for generators purchased only due to power outages caused by hurricane Ida.
Thank you for contacting FEMA and giving us the opportunity to assist you. ?
The medical condition and the power outage verification documents have been waived for disaster #4611. If you had to purchase a generator due to power outages or a chainsaw to remove downed trees, please send a copy of the proof-of-purchase or rental receipts for the generator/chainsaw.
You may fax your documents to 1-800-827-8112, upload to your online account, or physically mail correspondence to:
FEMA - Individuals & Households Program
National Processing Service Center
P.O. Box 10055
Hyattsville, MD 20782-8055
Please write your name, last four digits of your social security number, disaster number and registration number on your receipts and keep a copy for your records. We do not have a program to assist with fuel cost reimbursement.
We hope this information is helpful in addressing your question.?If you have any further questions or need additional clarification, please contact the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362).??If you use a TTY, call 800-462-7585. If you use 711 or VRS, please call 1-800-621-3362.
Sincerely,

Yeah, as long as you receive the item before 9/25 I believe is the cutoff date.

If it wasn't a complicated process, I would love to get a free chainsaw. I have no trees on my property, but would lave to have one right now to help a bunch of my elderly neighbors. I have a small electric one, but it sucks.

But what about income level. If you were denied the housing, can you still get this reimbursement?

What if my generator is $1100.
Will fema cover up to the allowable limit?

Buy. File. Keep receipts. Return after payment.

Go get you a second generator or second chainsaw, sell it next year before a hurricane. Make you some money for being prepared.
