The EBR Council on Aging thinks their funding shouldn't be reviewed b/c they spent it all

The Metro Council millage review proposal—sponsored by council members Scott Wilson, Dwight Hudson and Tara Wicker—was sparked by growing concerns of unchecked spending and surpluses at city-parish agencies funded by dedicated millages.
For instance, the COA’s dedicated property tax collected $1.6 million more in 2018 than the originally projected $7.8 million.
Don't get too exciting seeing Tara Wicker in that group, she later says she supports them and doesn't want to cut their funding.

They didnt realized that this organization helps like 100 elderly people out a year on with their 800k existing budget. They didnt realized that the president of the company swindles old ladies to put her as the executor if their wills.
This is a prime example of how the Dems' hood winked the public to vote for a model when it is just a fat pig with lipstick.

Let's not gloss over that the COA is a thinly veiled vote generator for the Democratic party.
Any politician that speaks out against them will get put on the "naughty list" that they give all the seniors right before they drive them to the polling station.

Is nothing, I personally run over 80M in just aging grants for another municipality.
Not much oversight,just approval layers. you have to spend the money or you are considered hurting people.
ie. this is not business, no windfalls. If I dont spend 1M, that "means" that 1M didnt go to feeding, housing, medical care, etc..older people in need that the President, governor, mayor, board of supervisors, etc.. wanted me to spend on older people.
If I don't spend it, I get yelled at AND the funds get "lost" (absorbed and used in other area). My job is not tied to saving money, it's tied to ensuring that the money planned and dedicated for various programs for older people gets used. I got an extra 20M last year with only 6 months left in the FY. Had to run a dozen or so RFPs, evaluation panels, and whatnot to encumber the funds before the Fy was over or we'd lose it. It's similar to the military, Everyone has their individual job to do to be in compliance.

Risk of being institutionalized. Much better to help people out at 1-2k/month, than to have them at 10k+/month in a hospital under medicare.
blame the medical industry and people not wanting to see old ladies on the side of the road.
