I will give you that 1996 is too late to be considered a millennial. Definitely not disputing that

you shouldn't back your horse up to this guy's argument. He got blasted in the last thread just like he is getting blasted in this thread.

Someone even pointed out that it was the first time he has seen someone wanting to be a millennial lol.

Why wouldn't I want to be considered a Millennial? We're a great generation, especially compared to Gen Z.

I would say "imagine shitting on your own generation because you think you're in another one" but the millennials here who think they're gen x know that all too well.

yep. it is great when there is a millennial bashing thread and most of the people in it were born between 1980-1985, when those are PRIME millennial years.

But look, the main reason for that is the media used the term millennial to describe all the crap kids born from 1990+ caused. When we all know that they do not fit in with us. So why are we in the same group.

So like i said the further away we get the more of a push will happen to make the subset of 1980-1988ish to be in its own category.

The cartoons and games mentioned are crappy examples.

I was born in 91. The cartoons I watched as a kid and games I played through my mid teens were

Ren and Stimpy
Rockos modern life
Doug
Hey Arnold
Looney Tunes
Angry Beavers

Games were
Donkey Kong
Mario World and Mario Kart
Zelda
Sonic the Hedgehog
007
Twisted Metal 1-4 (GOAT game)
NCAA Football
NFL Blitz (also GOAT)
Need For Speed
the numerous Grand Theft Auto games

I will say some video games now are badass as I still play once in awhile as an adult in my rare spare time. The open world games like Red Dead Redemption 2 are awesome. That was probably the best game I ever played. The war games like Call of Duty are badass now too

This scene perfectly illustrates the difference between Millennials and Gen-Z:

It's hard for me to consider someone a millennial if they were too young to remember 9/11 or a time before the internet.

It seems a little premature to be reflectively comparing/contrasting the childhoods of those generations when Gen Zers are current 7 year olds.

As a proud member of the millennials (born in 1988), we don’t accept this posers application solely because he was born in 1996. Way too young to fully experience the awesomeness that was the 90s.

Most Gen X were in high school or older when that came out.

Late 2001-mid 2004 is still clearly Millennial territory. Late 2004-mid 2006 had some Zoomer influence, but the overall feel was still Millennial. It wasn't until late 2006 that the Zoomer influence was dominant, and by then I was in 5th grade. My childhood was mostly Millennial. Different than the early-mid 90s, but still Millennial.

And the Trogdor and "buying gf" pictures are so accurate.

Dude that's not even close. The generations might share some characteristics perhaps.

I consider millennials to be kids that spent their childhoods without most modern technology (cell phones, internet etc) and their adolescent/teenage years with them.

It's one of the reasons I've always disagreed with the 1980 start date. It should around 85-86. If you were born in 1980 you were about a Jr or Sr in college when having internet access in your home was becoming fairly common.

I know the term is meant to center around the turn of the millennium but the explosion of the internet changed our lives much more than the transition from 1999 to 2000.

I grew up calling Time & Temperature before going play outside. Those kids were handed an iPhone by their parents for entertainment as toddlers

When I said late 2001-mid 2004 is still Millennial territory, I didn't mean birth years. I meant for kid culture. GameCube/PS2, Powerhouse Cartoon Network with CCF and weekday Toonami, Web 1.0, and the Windows 98/XP transition are all staples of late Millennial kid culture.

I was born before 1980 and I was rubbing one out to pictures of boobs that took 30 minutes to download by the end of highschool.
