I think this is actually going to be a hard case for Depp to win, as is with Defamation in general. Extremely high bar to win those cases. I have not studied the evidence enough to make that prediction, just saying the odds going in were likely very low.
However, if you are Depp, this was always a calculation that he would pay $x amount in lawyers fees and aggressively put on a good PR campaign to show how ridiculous the allegations were against him. In that way, public support is back on his side and movie studios give him roles again. I seriously doubt he will cry much about not prevailing (which could still happen).

kinda interesting the jury apparently asked for a shortened lunch today (45 minutes instead of an hour)

Only read to me would be they are close and may want to try to get in their notice of a verdict before the top of the hour, so they don’t have to wait longer than an hour to deliver.
Otherwise I have no idea.
Looks like no update, so I don’t know why they did that. Maybe they just knew an hour was too long for lunch.

I never said anything about either of them looking better than the other in this trial.
I just haven't seen anything from this trial to change the opinion I already had of the both them.
Are we really going to act like Johnny Depp hasn't obviously been off his rocker for at least a decade now just b/c Amber Heard is a bigger a-hole than he is?

I don't hate him. I just think he's a narcissistic a-hole. He's still a great actor and I'll watch anything he's in at least once. I think a lot of other great actors are narcissistic assholes too if that makes you feel better.

Again, nothing from this trial changed my already formed opinion of him. What exactly came out that should change my mind on him? It's not like Heard's accusations are why I think he's an arse. She has nothing to do with it other than happening to be the woman he cheated on his baby mama with which doesn't even matter b/c cheaters are assholes regardless of who they cheat with.

The trial isn't about whether or not he's an arse. She told people he raped and beat her. There are people out there who heard that and formed a very definite opinion of him based on that information, and those are the people whose minds he's trying to change with this trial.

It’s not a matter if Depp is off his rocker. He’s a movie star. I think that’s not unusual. And it’s not a matter if you like the dude or not.
He was being accused of being a sexually violent mad man. And that’s a big difference from just being a mad man.
