You can thank thugs for this. No one wants to have their business open at night to deal with these animals. They are bad enough during the day, but during the night you are exposing yourself to an extreme level of risk.

I agree. But it is what it is.

You only recently got these jabronis to use the internet. You're not gonna remove a word from their vernacular.

I miss the 24/7 model too- I loved getting up around 4am, working out and hitting the store on the way home... and be worked out and shopping done before anyone else in my household woke up.

Now... I have to fight school traffic if I want to hit the store early. Yuck.

This is perhaps the most misunderstood phrase of all time.

It’s right up there with “no pain no gain”.

COVID killed it.

In my town, Walgreens, Walmart, and kroger all stayed open 24 hours. Now it's 11 pm

Pretty sure black people and crime stopped them being 24/7 before Covid.

I remember when JC Penney and Publix were closed on Sunday.

I think COVID gave them the excuse they needed to do what they wanted to anyway.

I kinda liked it when stores were all closed on Sunday, but that ship sailed in the 80s.
I'd prefer the Sabbath myself... but that'd get in the way of FOOTBALL.

You people will complain about anything.

I don't think you know what complaining is.

quote:

Complain

1. To express feelings of pain, dissatisfaction, or resentment.
2. To make a formal accusation or bring a formal charge; file a complaint.
3. To give utterance to expression of grief, pain, censure, regret. etc.; to lament; to murmur; to find fault; -- commonly used with of. Also, to creak or squeak, as a timber or wheel.

You can make an argument that I am expressing dissatisfaction. Let's dig deeper.

quote:

Dissatisfaction

1. The condition or feeling of being displeased or unsatisfied; discontent.
2. A cause of discontent.
3. The state of being dissatisfied, unsatisfied, or discontented; uneasiness proceeding from the want of gratification, or from disappointed wishes and expectations.

Again, not quite. I'm content with it. I don't like it, but I'm not discontented. Would be nice to get my grocery shopping out of the way.

Is there a difference between dissatisfaction and dislike? Let's look into it.

quote:

Dissatisfaction refers to a feeling of disappointment or unfulfillment when expectations are not met, while dislike is a general feeling of aversion or lack of fondness towards someone or something.

I'd say that my post was expressing more the latter. Couldn't be the former because there was no expectation that stores are open 24/7. I know that they don't exist in this area anymore. As such I didn't have the expectation that they would be open.

Of course I know all of this intuitively because I'm not retarded.

Preach sir. I could’ve sworn our heb used to be 24 hrs at one point. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve wanted to go grab something late night and they’re closed.

They were till c19 Start with Regan in 1980 Big stores use overnight to restock while the rest of us slept. Remember you had 3 channels (ABC / CBS / NBC) + Public TV till Ronnie got rid of the "Fairness Doctrine" and they were all off the air after the late news and such. Ronnies terms gave rise to MBA's and "Greed is Good" so the MBA's figured letting customers in at night while they were restocking meant added revenue. Sunday "Blue Laws" also went away (tho many believe the Blue Laws were for booze, it actually was from automobile business as banks were closed on Sunday so no way to sell cars on credit) so the 24 / 7 model became the norm by the 90's.

I don’t think I’ve ever actually said this before but…

Ok boomer

fricking pisses me off. Walmart 0300 to grab some shitty bait or hooks I forgot to get during daylight, or even milk and a sandwhich getting off work early in the morning.

Covid and the woke movement completely fricked this country in so many ways, stores being open late at night was just one of countless losses.

I can’t imagine having strong emotions about not having 24/7 access to Wal Marks.

Overhead, zero sales, window for criminal activity. It’s stupid be open 24/7.

Fine. Then go back to stocking at night at least…. fricking ridiculous they have them doing it all day in every aisle.
