"the left" isn't wanting him crucified

y'all are taking a # that was started by a bunch of 12 year old Asian kids and that majority of shared/retweets are people making fun of it and running with as some big real world societal trend

don't be dumb

Robert Downey Jr. survived somehow. Why is it offensive if someone wears blackface in an entertainment scenario? It's just dress up and not intended to be racist.

You can make a joke about cancer, but it better be funny.

As long as people doing the blackface bit are funny then they can get away with it. A politician doing blackface at a closed door party isn't funny.

Robert Downey Jr’s black face in tropic thunder was making fun of actors and was absolutely hysterical

Not really. I don't filter my life through who the current president is like some people around here appear to do.

Got to meet Obama when he was running for office. Pretty cool dude.

This is literally the only people I see on Twitter that are upset about it. And they're not even actually upset. Half of them are bitching about people being so bored they want to cancel someone "new" every day and that it's not even a thing.

I truly wonder what sort of hypersensitive wastrel devotes his or her days to manufacturing virtual outrage over an old SNL skit? These tremulous virtual censors disgust me. The disproportionate reaction to this skit demonstrates how meek and judgemental society has become over the last two decades. In 2000, people laughed at the skit. There was no controversy. Today, the precious fools want to end a man's career over the same long-known, public performance. The altered reaction is not a sign of increased enlightenment.

Twitter trends are so dumb. I clicked on the hashtag and couldn't find one serious tweet about wanting Fallon fired. But now we can get a shitty article about how 50k people have tweeted that hashtag even though it's mostly just people talking about the absurdity of it.

Because his character was butt of the joke in tropic thunder. Your laughing at him for wearing black face, not cheering him on

It’s like people saying Blazing Saddles wouldn’t be made to today

Blazing saddles wouldn’t be made today. I don’t know how people could think that it would.

Yes I know the sherif is the only one that looks good in the movie, but I cannot believe it would be made now.

let me clarify. is it wrong? it is incredibly fricked up. should he have done it, oh god no.

It wasn't wrong then and it shouldn't be wrong now. What is so damn offensive about one person impersonating another person that happens to be a different race?

The problem is that the left has warped what "blackface" really is. It originally referred to minstrel shows that were specifically done to make fun of black people and their stereotypes. Now, "blackface" simply refers to any non-black person putting on makeup to look like a black person. There is nothing wrong with putting on makeup or a costume to look like someone else or impersonate someone, no matter their race. I wish everyone would just get over this PC bullshite.

You couldn’t do a shot for shot remake but djanjo was made, I see no reason blazing saddles couldn’t be.

Especially prime Dave Chappell was behind it, like Richard Pryor.
