Something else will open in it's place soon I'm sure.

If you say so man.. guess we'll see what happens there. Feel free to bookmark this thread and check back in when it's still open.
Last night was their last open to the general public. They weren't even running the registers and the inventory was near depleted.

I beleive you that he told you that. And several things in that statement are close to the truth, but the Bandit will remain open. There will be some immediate staffing changes so perhaps not tonight but last night was not the last night that the Bandit will be open to the public.
But at the meeting today when I was sitting with the managers of all the other concepts and the ops manager told us that last night's "freak out" would be handled and the Bandit would remain open.

The bars in that place closing is like an semi-annual tradition.

Remember when the owner of Shady's got his safe stolen and he offered a $50,000 no-questions-asked reward for its return?
Always wondered what was in that safe.

That place has officially turned into a cursed location akin to the Brightside location across from Mike Anderson's that has housed Blind Tiger/Portobello's/countless others.

Barcadia is one of the best bars in BR but they can't even get people to that place for some reason
God awful management and service

If the owners were smart, they'd cut their losses and close The Bandit and try to get someone to take over their lease. The bar sucks. Nobody will ever succeed there with Bogie's next door and traditional TigerLand bars a 5 minute walk away.
I'm telling you put a Whataburger there and get rich.

Replace it with What-a-burger. Make bank.

I'd go with steak n shake but that's just me. Whataburger is good too.
Posted on 1/10/17 at 4:47 pm to tke857
Whataburgers are open 24/7. Would make a killing on the weekend after the bars closed.
Posted on 1/10/17 at 4:49 pm to DeafJam73
Ah yes you are right. I defer. Whataburger it is. You'd have to pay the night team time and a half to deal with the drunken madness but you'd still make enough.

Sounds like there's going to be a new GM.
Posted on 1/10/17 at 4:56 pm to tke857
There will always be students willing to work the night shift. Or somebody who lives in the area.

Some drunk arse white kids are nothing to the people who work those fast food joints.

When they first opened they had the hottest bartenders in the city. Talent has taken a dip
They pulled people in from New Orleans to open it, and they also hired good looking employees who had never worked in the service industry before. Friend of mine worked there, and told us they did a $X beer buckets special one night and one of the female bartenders walked up to him with a bucket filled halfway with draft beer and asked, "So, am I supposed to serve this with a straw?"
They also went through GMs multiple times, they lost Nick Hufft who was the sole reason their food was good, and they started out extremely expensive. Even now, they don't offer anything that appeals to college students. The food is sit down style, so you're looking at $15+ after tip. And it isn't easy for college kids to underage drink in there.

I guess it's a Parking/location issue.
Chimes is the only place in that area that attracts people from other parts of town. Barcadia could possibly do well out in the Overpass/College area where people with money to spend are.

Barcadia doesn't work in the north gate area let alone right there.
It doesn't work because they drove away their customer base by:
A. changing the food: their burgers were their staple there, but then started cutting corners causing them to taste like shite. Similar issues happened with their wings and other dishes.
B. raising already fairly high drink prices
C. DJ's at night. Their bread and butter at the beginning was the young professional crowd and video game geeks who liked music from the jukebox at a volume not too loud to talk over. The DJ's drove them away, making it a college bar like the various others around them. Their niche appeal was gone.
D. Cover charges. Since Barcadia's original customer base was built on buying food and video games, those customers were completely turned off 1by the idea of having to pay 5 or 10 dollars just to get inside to then pay $10 for a burger and $2 for each game they wanted to play. Their original customers saw they were being nickel & dimed and bailed.
They went from being a truly unique niche place with outstanding food to a trashy bar like every other shite bar in the area with average to mediocre food. It was a complete failure of management.

To be fair, they hired a chef with a reputation and he pulled out to start Merchant/Curbside. I don't blame him, but if they didn't take the time to learn the recipes/buying/menu, they probably had no idea what to do when the Curbside recipes left.
They're supposedly about to roll out a new menu, and the random assortment of stuff on it is kinda funny. At this point, they have daiquiris.. pizza.. burgers.. tacos.. some crawfish dish.. etc. How you're able to do such a random array of dishes is beyond me.
