Everyone always brings up median in threads like these. But the median numbers are putrid.

Don’t be like the median.

I am always intrigued by who downvotes a post that is obviously truthful and pragmatic. So many weak men these days that think they *deserve* something. How about you man-up and fight like your Gen-X daddies had to do? Weenies.

$1,000,000 isn’t impressive anymore. $10,000,000 is yesterdays millionaire.

Do you understand you keep the equity when you sell a home? Minus transaction costs of course but if net worth is tied up in a home you wont wind up homeless if you sell.

Meh, the uber rich drive this "average"

Yep. If Mark Zuckerberg was sitting in Tiger Stadium and every other person sitting in those seats was flat broke, the “average” person in that stadium would be worth $1.3 million.

But being a millionaire now doesn't have the same weight as it did 30-40 years ago, not by a long shot

That is certainly accurate for me. Seems if you have a 401k and own a house, this shouldn't be too difficult to do.

America has opportunities like nowhere else. Anyone in their 40s who isn't financially comfortable is either stupid or lazy.

Average, not median.

Elon Musk walks into a bar with 30 people. The average person in the bar in a billlionarie.
