Don't have to worry about unruly guests stomping above you or your adjacent rooms being too loud

I mean I guess you can see the Rockies way off in the distance from Calgary.
Similar to Denver. You can see where the mountains are.

People who couldn’t get fixed rate because they were stacking properties. These aren’t traditional owner occupied mortgages.

$100 per night (with a $400 cleaning fee).
I am staying in 3 airbnb/vrbos between last week and next week.
I can go years without staying in one but during that time we have a Zach Bryan concert in SA with my niece and nephew, my nephews graduation in Huntsville, and a trip to Port A.
It has its conveniences but irritations as well. We had 3 different cars coming in for the ZB concert and the Airb&B had a small print rule about not parking in the driveway because somebody was staying in the garage apartment behind the house. We had 3 cars that we had to bring. No driveway made that suck.
On the other hand, if we stayed down at the riverwalk, we would have payed $40 per car to park overnight downtown and had to share a suite on top of $3-400 minimum for rooms. ABB let 3 families stay in their own bedrooms.
On ANOTHER hand… it was a $99 rental with a $80 cleaning fee for one night. That somehow turned into $250. Still less than a hotel and was convenient but you’re left with a WTF feeling.
It’s a bit of YMMV.

Tell me more about this. What sort of experiences are we talking about?
In Atlanta it means you go to a concert and get fricked up, take an uber to the airbnb, fumble your way inside and pass out.

I’ve got 3 in Hot Springs on Lake Hamilton and they do pretty well. When we were buying, we made sure to get them in the most popular area and with really good amenities.
Hot Springs does a really good job of promoting the area so the town stays busy. With Oaklawn and the casino, Magic Springs, Lake activities, bath houses, revitalized old downtown, etc. even the off seasons aren’t too bad.
This year has been just as strong as last year. We really keep it updated and make sure it stays clean, so we have lots of great reviews.
I think the crowing of STR death is exaggerated. But we are in the tourist and vacation segment, not the business traveler or the like.

company also said it had removed more than 200,000 low-quality listings since it launched its “quality system” more than a year ago.
Is this like the ones by St. Claude that have people book and have no idea what area they are in??

One thing that’s really frustrating is booking something and then having to do a fricking interview for your reason. I’ve had 2/3 of last 3 bookings canceled on me after booking because the stay was too short or they weren’t actually available and hadn’t updated their posting too.
I agree with others that would rather use a hotel for 2-3 night stuff.

I booked one in an unnamed Louisiana town. When I went to check in it was directly across the street from a government housing project. I called the owner immediately and demanded a refund. She tried to gaslight me into staying but hell no. Why would I do something that stupid.
Once you have the booking info and have gotten the address, how do you not google maps the shite of it to avoid this exact problem.
Aerial view, street views.... come'on man.

This is more of an Airbnb issue than a global demand for travel. Many cities and municipalities have created code restrictions that basically outlaw short-term rentals by private residences. Airbnb has also had issues with bad renters who have illegally video recorded guests, and abused secure information standards. Crazy fees and unrealistic return of rental policies have turned people off Airbnb.
Personally I don’t stay at them. They lack the amenities I’d prefer. I don’t think that they should be legal.

know I’ve went back to hotels due to fees unless it’s a week long stay
Uber is more expensive than cabs now abd Airbnb is more expensive than hotels.
With a hotel I don't have to deal with anyone if I don't want to or worry they're secretly recording me.

Getting basic information is sometimes difficult.
It'll like dealing with a bunch of "mom&pops". Some are decent, but a lot are crap
Much prefer a top-tier hotel, but I cam see the attraction if you have a large group or kids.
And, plenty of people are still traveling.
That's just an excuse from them.

Stout youve been reading too much reddit. You're starting to sound like those weirdos rambling about housing shortages. STRs make up less than 1% of available housing units in just about every major market in the US. Saying airbnb is one of the causes of a housing shortage is just lazy logic
I am not anti-Airbnb by any stretch however I think the accuracy of the above statement varies by location. A few posts up someone posted about Sedona for example, there is no question when they changed the STR zoning laws it it had a clear and meaningful impact on both price and availability and has caused significant challenges.
I agree on the macro nationwide side it may be overblown, but at the micro level there are several markets where this impact is real.

Cue hotel/Airbnb meme
Outside of places like the beach, Airbnb is kinda useless.
Too many rules, too much work, crazy owners, more expensive than a hotel. What’s the point
