Considering that the "boat" (BR) is the Titanic. I'm good with that

I love how people pretend being a part of BR is some safe haven. City of BR largely sucks balls right now.

I know, I acknowledge that fact in my post.

Merely clarifying for anyone else that might take the original thought I had, but without actually going read the Editorial.

This would not have happened had Sharon Weston-Broome and Pat Smith not blocked the area's attempt at an independent school district. "You must be an incorporated city to have your own schools!" Okay, we'll make our own city! "No, you can't do this because we'll lose money!" Not as much money as you'd lose when folks bolt for Livingston and Ascension Parishes!

Funny thing is it was Colomb who told them on the Senate Floor that an ISD in an unincorporated area was unheard of, that it would be easier for them if they were a city.

Some politician is trying to pass a law that the whole parish gets to vote.

Crazy. Well not really as an outsider that has found this all very interesting/entertaining.

When is this "law" being voted on?

Whenever the LA legislature pulls away from the BR hookers long enough to have a vote.

Will Woodlawn High School be renamed St. George High School? That would be weird being an alumnus from there if the name of the school were changed.

I think October. We don't live in the proposed boundary. We are one street inside of the city limits. I still hope it passes.

Now, state Sen. Yvonne Colomb has filed a bill in the Legislature that would require a majority of voters across the parish, not just in the proposed boundaries of St. George, to approve the measure before it becomes a reality.

The kicker is that the bill only applies to EBR Parish.

And how is this not basically gerrymandering?

Ask all the people who graduated from Bishop Sullivan or Chapel Trafton about that.

Seems like St George could just pay CH2M to provide any city services that they can't. That is what Central does and I don't have any complaints.

We live right by Episcopal High on the main road. The end of the street is St George

At least their original school is still standing! And in Bishop's case the name change came out of embarrassment over a pedophilia case. Quite a bit different scenario.
