Have many times have you guys asked to borrow a dime (then a quarter) to make a call?

And . . . how many of you had the long extension chord added to your home phone so you could talk to your special lady friend with a little bit of privacy?

The phone in the OP's pic has a keypad. In the 1960s, we had to rough it with rotary dial phones.

I recall when most all kids back then had emergency change for a quick call. That is if you didn't spend all your money in Spencer's or Aladdin's castle.

Probably had to go use the pay phone because her momma been on the phone with her sister for at least an hour and although they said bye three times the conversation wasn't close to being over.

This was in the early 90s, but I remember when people had to call their parents to come pick them up from practice, they would call collect, their parent would accept the call but it would let them know they were done and they needed them to come pick them up.

Dude, used to love those change footballs. My Pop would always have one filled with change when I visited. No way a kid today would know what one is

No, and I wouldn't have driven my own car or carried my phone with me either.

The only rules from my parents were to be home when the street lights turned on.

That was my favorite part. As soon as we were done eating cereal in the morning, we grabbed our bikes, basketball, football or whatever and were off all day. Sure kidnappers and pedos existed, but we just felt safe.
It’s odd but times have changed. I got a tracking device on my son’s bike and he has a 2 way. So do his friends. That all day shite doesn’t fly now.
